Is Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic a cliché? Yes and no. I say this because from start to finish this series repeats the formula of several Isekai predecessors and it still seems to work. In this series from Studio Add and Shin-Ei Animation directed by Takahide Ogata we have the typical repetitive factors: a kingdom in trouble, the threat of a demon king and therefore the imperative need to bring one or more heroes brought from another world. I'm sure that as far as those factors are concerned they are copy and paste. And don't get me wrong, I personally enjoy the isekai genre, but despite all the humorous scenes, there is too much rehashed content.

And, for the sake of not being a hater of the series, I prefer to analyze some of its main characters, since they have a lot to contribute to the current plot and future seasons. So that's what we will do next, although I warn that I will not talk about all of them, I will only refer to those who, for me, are really worth it.

Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic es un cliché? Si y no. Digo esto porque de inicio a fin esta serie repite la fórmula de ya varios Isekai antecesores y al parecer aun sigue funcionando. En esta serie del estudio Studio Add and Shin-Ei Animation ditigida por Takahide Ogata tenemos los típicos factores repetitivos: un reino en apuros, la amenaza de un rey demonio y por consecuente la imperiosa necesidad de traer a uno o varios héroes traídos de otro mundo. Valla que en cuanto a esos factores son el copia y pega. Y no me malentiendan yo en lo personal disfruto del genero isekai, pero es que a pesar de todas las escenas humorísticas hay demasiado contenido refrito.

Y, en aras de no quedar como un hater de la serie, prefiero analizar un poco a algunos de sus personajes principales, ya que tienen mucho que aportar a la trama actual y a futuras temporadas. Así que eso es lo que haremos a continuación, aunque advierto que no voy a hablar de todos, solo me referiré a los que, para mí, de verdad valen la pena.

Let's start with the main character Usato Usari, who was very, very close to not even appearing in the 😂 series. This young hero arrives in a new world being a person who didn't excel in anything, but with immense kindness. That said, I also mention that he has a somewhat masochistic attitude and very low self-preservation instinct. Maybe that's why his fighting style doesn't take into account his safety, and the name of the series already says it: the main character is a healer, but the least he does is heal. Usato shows the typical attitude of a hero who risks his life to protect others, and well, it's not bad, but from time to time it would be nice to put a little more common sense to the protagonists. They want to save the world, but in every fight they risk their lives. Have they thought that if they die, no one will be able to take their place?

Comencemos por el protagonista Usato Usari, el cual estuvo muy, pero muy cerca de ni siquiera aparecer en la serie 😂. Este joven héroe llega a un nuevo mundo siendo una persona que no destacaba en nada, pero con una bondad inmensa. Dicho esto, también menciono que tiene una actitud un tanto masoquista y muy bajo instinto de autopreservación. Quizás sea por eso que su estilo de pelea no tiene en cuenta su seguridad, y es que el nombre de la serie ya lo dice: el prota es un sanador, pero lo menos que hace es sanar. Usato muestra la típica actitud de héroe que arriesga su vida por proteger a los demás, y bueno, no es que esté mal, pero de vez en cuando estaría bien ponerle un poco más de sentido común a los protagonistas. Quieren salvar el mundo, pero en cada pelea arriesgan su vida. ¿Acaso han pensado que si mueren, nadie va a poder ocupar su lugar?

On the other hand, we have the heroine Suzune Inukami. This girl comes as a bit of a surprise, because when she arrives in the new world, her attitude takes a 180° turn. Boy, does she get weird. As you might imagine, the series does a good job of explaining why this happens, but it still leaves a lot to the imagination. To top it off, she has very poor character development, being overshadowed by the main character. Hence my saying that there is no need for so many protagonists in a story. Almost always, when there are many good guys, the bad guy's place is left vacant and someone has to fill it. Even so, this character won my sympathy because he represents what I call the syndrome, the hidden face of people. Which is nothing more than the fact that many people go through life pretending to be someone else.

Por otro lado, tenemos a la heroína Suzune Inukami. Esta chica sorprende un poco, ya que al llegar al nuevo mundo su actitud da un giro de 180°. Vaya que se pone rara. Como es de imaginar, en la serie explican bien el porqué de esto, pero aun así deja mucho a la imaginación. Por si fuera poco, tiene un desarrollo de personaje muy pobre, siendo opacada por el protagonista. De ahí mi frase de que no hacen falta tantos protagonistas en una historia. Casi siempre, cuando hay muchos buenos, queda vacante la plaza de malo y alguien tiene que ocuparla. Aun así, este personaje se ganó mi simpatía porque representa lo que yo llamo el síndrome, la cara oculta de las personas. El cual no es más que el hecho de que muchas personas van por la vida fingiendo ser alguien distinto.

I could also refer to the second hero, but for me it was a huge "meh". He doesn't stand out in anything, he doesn't have an interesting story that marks you and makes you feel empathy. As I said, he's a character that doesn't hold my attention. I also hope that in future seasons he will be more useful or at least stand out a bit more.

También podría referirme al segundo héroe, pero para mí fue un enorme “meh”. No destaca en nada, no tiene una historia interesante que te marque y te haga sentir empatía. Como ya dije, es un personaje que no me llama la atención. También espero que en futuras temporadas resulte más útil o, al menos, que destaque un poco más.

Moving away from the heroes brought from another world, let's focus on the captain of the team of healers, Rose. This character and her story could be the subject of a whole season of the anime. This woman carries both physical and psychological scars from past events all the time, yet she is always ready for the call. Her strength is enormous and her training methods are highly questionable, but she does her best to make sure that history does not repeat itself once again. Even if I wanted to go on telling about her, I don't think I could, as every word would be a possible spoiler. That's how important she is to the story.

Saliendo un poco de los héroes traídos de otro mundo, centrémonos en la capitana del equipo de sanadores, Rose. Este personaje y su historia bien dan para hacer una temporada del anime. Esta mujer carga todo el tiempo con cicatrices tanto físicas como psicológicas de los sucesos pasados y aun así siempre está lista para el llamado. Su fuerza es descomunal y sus métodos de entrenamiento son muy cuestionables, pero hace todo lo posible para que la historia no se repita una vez más. Aunque quisiera seguir contando sobre ella, no creo que pueda hacerlo, ya que cada palabra sería un posible espóiler. Así de importante es para la historia.

Finally, we have what was supposed to be a formidable enemy. This character possesses very good combat skills, yet is defeated in the silliest way possible. And for those who still think that hits don't teach, I think Black Knight can tell you otherwise. The good thing is that it remains as content for future seasons where it will hopefully look a little less sultry.

Por último, tenemos a lo que se supone era un enemigo formidable. Este personaje posee muy buenas habilidades de combate, aunque es derrotado de la forma más tonta posible. Y para los que aún piensan que los golpes no enseñan, yo creo que Black Knight les puede decir lo contrario. Lo bueno es que queda como contenido para próximas temporadas donde espero luzca un poco menos bochornoso.

All in all, the story is entertaining, as it has a high humorous content. It may not be well received by those who don't like isekai, but at least keep in mind that worse ones have come out 😂. Personally, I watched the whole thing and laughed on many occasions. As I mentioned, the characters have a lot of potential (some of them) and surely in future seasons they will surprise us with fresh material. The soundtrack by Elements Garden allows us to enjoy "Cure" (Opening Theme) and "Green Jade" (Closing Theme), musical themes that go very well with the theme of the series and are a delight. I quite liked the animation, although it is not one of the best I've seen, it is well above what is usually seen in this type of series.

En resumen, la historia es entretenida, ya que tiene un alto contenido humorístico. Es posible que no sea bien recibida por aquellos a los que no les gusta el isekai, pero al menos hay que tener en cuenta que han salido peores 😂. Personalmente, la vi entera y me reí en muchas ocasiones. Como ya mencioné, los personajes tienen mucho potencial (algunos) y seguramente en próximas temporadas nos sorprenderán con material fresco. La banda sonora a cargo de Elements Garden nos permite disfrutar de “Cure” (Tema de apertura) y “Green Jade” (Tema de cierre), unos temas musicales que van muy acorde con la temática de la serie y son un deleite. La animación me gustó bastante, aunque no es de las mejores que he visto, está muy por encima de lo que se suele ver en este tipo de series.
