Do you believe in destiny?

You wouldn't think things happen for a reason, would you? Are there circumstances that we cannot control no matter how hard we try? What do we do in such situations?

I remember reading @alekst7 post two months ago, and he tried to explain what we should do when faced with circumstances beyond our control.

I did learn one lesson, and it was the fact that he said since we can't change most of the things that happens to us, we shouldn't sit back and question nature or God, instead, we should look out for what we can do about the events.

This means we can't change the things that happens to us but we can change our attitude towards it.

I have read the book, The Godfather, by Mario Puzo, three times, and every time, the message stays the same. Don Corleone always believed that a man has only one destiny. It doesn't matter how long it takes for it to form, and be established, it will always come to be.

Does that mean one who is meant to die by air will always do so? Does that mean one who is destined to govern the states is the one governing? Maybe.

Doris Day sings the song, Que Será, Será, translated to mean, "whatever will be, will be". And it boils down to the same context.

I am moved to ask, what happens to the part where the scripture says, "for whatsoever a man sows, that he shall also reap"?

Isn't that supposed to be mean that we live by the results of all our actions? Doesn't that prove we are the author of our destiny?

As it stands I am console by the fact that @alekst7 had also shared his experience with these kind of situation. He said 👇👇

I've tried all of these approaches in my life.
I tried to completely control my life, but I often acted stupid and irrational things for no apparent reason. I was disappointed in life, not finding meaning in it, and letting things go «on their own». I selflessly gave myself up to trust in God, His will and grace, but sometimes God's silence drove me crazy..
And I came to the conclusion that this is only partly true.
In part, we ourselves can control what happens to us.
Partly, some force beyond our control determines our lives.
And sometimes reality is absolutely indifferent to us. And then there are accidents and coincidences.

Quote Source

You see, a lot of us have tried all approaches to live. We sometimes decide to leave it to fate, other times, we take actions by ourselves. Most times we make mistakes and learn from them. Every single time we question which path is the right one to follow.

Actually understanding the word Destiny is still very unclear to me but one thing I know is that even before we were conceived our destines have been established, and so whatever actions and decision we take, it all points towards our destiny.
Sometimes we find it difficult to understand how it works, why we do the things we do even when we don't wish to do it, why we meet certain people at certain points in our life, why different things happen to us at different times; all these links to our fate in life, and no Matter how long it takes, we will definitely arrive at our destines, this brings me to the popular saying that "Destiny can be delayed but not changed".

It's incredible how you share your thoughts with me, and I can relate

Yes, it's true that destiny can be delayed but cannot be denied

I guess this is why Don Corleone said, a man has only one destiny in that book

I agree the things we do points to our destiny, clearly, God had said to Jeremiah, that he knew him even before he was formed

That's it.... Our destiny has been written down, we are basically living every puzzle in a bit to align with it

Thank you very much, ma'am for this thoughtful comment

Great post that made me think a lot... :)

I can agree with Puzo's theory that everyone has one destiny, but I'm sure that we can "choose" the way how will we reach it, or how will we get there...

I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project and it will be highlighted in the next post!

The question is how do we even know what our destiny is so we choose how we can work towards it?

Much appreciated, sir

I suppose that we have to give our best in anything that we are doing and we will get "there" :)

Destiny isn't something that can be changed it can any be manipulated according to a particular saying, actually this saying is true, so as our faces are different so our destinies are too, if someone is destined to be successful person whatever he finds his self doing will definitely yield good results for him even when others fail on doing same thing, but mind you only when he utilize his opportunities well,

I love this part because even though one is destined to prosper, he won't be successful if he folds his hands and do nothing

No. I don't believe it and it doesn't make sense or logic to live like this if we were all programmed.

I believe we have some cases to be done, but the opportunities are there and it's up to us to take advantage of them or not.

I even wrote a text about exactly this kind of questioning regarding destiny

(Edited)

I think it is a balance. It is not completely a single destination, nor is it completely dependent on us. Factors that we can control and others that we don't influence the future of our existence. But sometimes it is difficult to distinguish. Sometimes we make mistakes or have a hard time believing that we can control more than we actually can, and other times we suffer from underestimating ourselves and believing that we have no power to decide what happens in our lives. Nice post! ✨

Wow, great comment, ma'am and I second this motion 👇👇

Factors that we can control and others that we don't influence the future of our existence.

And I love the way you explained how we underestimate ourselves at times, and at other times, we forget, that it's not in our place to change most things.

Thank you very much for your contribution 😊

Thank you so much for remembering me. You can't imagine how grateful I am for your post. It was very timely and so necessary for me..

You write "You see, a lot of us have tried all approaches to live. We sometimes decide to leave it to fate, other times, we take actions by ourselves. Most times we make mistakes and learn from them. Every single time we question which path is the right one to follow."

Tell me, but how do we make choices, how do we make decisions, how do we determine which position to take? Especially in a complex situation, when there are several possible options, when you have to decide quickly, and your decision has a very important impact on your life?

Thank you so much for remembering me. You can't imagine how grateful I am for your post. It was very timely and so necessary for me.

oh no, Jesus Christ, I had this writing since yesterday morning, and I was so afraid to post it. I was afraid you will get upset. I didn't dare to let it out. This morning, I muster up the courage and press the publish button. I did it and said in my heart, "whatever will be, will be".

Yet, here you are saying thank you in a few lines, and my heart skips.

No, I never forgot. That same day, I wrote the lessons gained from that post on my wall.

IMG_20210908_173024_251~2.jpg

I wake up to it every morning. I see it every time. I remind myself of it, every time, I find myself in a state of confusion.

IMG_20210908_173029_175~3.jpg

Instead of asking, why is this happening to me? I look up and see that you said, I should ask, what should I do about this?

It worked every time, sir. A few days ago, I had one major decision to make, I have torn apart, because of the outcome, then, I looked up from my bed, and I saw the writing on the wall.

When I saw it, and asked, what should I do, the turmoil stopped, and I had an idea race into my head. I am happy to tell you I didn't even wait to confirm if it will work, I just went ahead and executed it, it worked like magic.

I couldn't believe it, all I did was congratulate myself, for not, being too hard on me, instead, concentrating on finding solutions and answers to an act that I committed. This is all thanks to you.

Should I give you another instance to prove that I cherished that post of yours since the first day I saw it?

I will, I took your picture, the one you used for the contest, and then, carried the reply I made on that post and left it as memories on my Facebook page. I might leave this house one day, but as long as the internet lives, I still have somewhere that I can return to. I didn't want to lose such thoughtful messages

It's right here, cause and effect.

Tell me, but how do we make choices, how do we make decisions, how do we determine which position to take? Especially in a complex situation, when there are several possible options, when you have to decide quickly, and your decision has a very important impact on your life?

This question? I am going to tell you what works for me. Apart from your message, I started, surrendering my decisions to the Almighty.

I must confess not of all of them (I do blunders when I don't)

I do it because I remember, someone asking me once if I had told God, that I didn't understand my college sums once, and I said no.

I do it because I remember, someone saying, that, if I make my decision known to both heaven and earth, I will always receive help.

I do receive help when I tender life decisions to God in prayers. I let him have the wheels, and sincerely, most times, I am always afraid, it won't work out.

In the die minutes, God always walks in and takes charge, and he proves that he is the Almighty every time.

So, how do you make decisions when you have to do it quickly? Initially, you don't. You first and foremost tell the Almighty, you have to make this decision, and surrender it to him.

You could ask him for signs if he wants you to take a certain path or not. I don't remember exactly who did this in the scripture, but, God did give him signs.

God hasn't changed since then, and he still gives his children signs, as long as we remember to cast all our burdens upon him

I sincerely apologize for this long comment, sir😴

There comes in reincarnation. Probably those who didn't sow what they reaped would come back to do so.

Do you believe in reincarnation?

My wongi is very funny..... Yes I do

Everyday i usually think I reincarnated because most events usually feels familiar to me, only, I don't usually remember where I experienced them

Probably those who didn't sow what they reaped would come back to do so.

You mean those who didn't reap what they sow, right? 😂😂

It's kinda the both ways babygirl..
If you didn't sow, what do you want to reap..... Abeg go into the world and sow.

And to those who had sown already, they'd now reap..

Gosh what am I even saying😂

Hell NO! I don't believe in 'Destiny' or whatever will be will be. That's a very dumb philosophy to me(No disregard to anyone who doesn't share thesame views).

So far in life i've come to realise there's no such thing as destiny or what you reap is what you sow. Like can't you see that people sow things and they don't reap those things they sowed? Don't ask me who and what they sowed, Look around you and you will have the answers obviously.

I believe more in hardwork, resilience, persistency and determination, Don't just wish it, Claim it!! And the first step towards that is havjng the right, sound and rational mindset, Having the ability to think outside the box and reason differently from a lot of people you meet out there(society).

But what do i know? I am just talking out of experience and deep rational thinking.

No. Offense taken, sir. We are all entitled to our beliefs

Like can't you see that people sow things and they don't reap those things they sowed? Don't ask me who and what they sowed, Look around you and you will have the answers obviously.

Lol, I won't ask you because I see it, but, you do not really know if they don't. Life has a way of getting back at us for all the things that we do, whether good or bad

And no, I do not want to argue because it's clearly written in the scripture, that we reap what we sow

I believe more in hardwork, resilience, persistency and determination, Don't just wish it, Claim it!!

I believe it too, but, let me remind you, that it is you who plants, it's you or a family member of yours who waters, but, it's God that gives growth.

If he doesn't bless the work of your hands, I don't think, you will find prosperity. You may not see it, but its the Almighty who makes all your efforts yield the right results

Keep religion out of this please. Religion is a fallacy. I can't believe you haven't realized the faults and errors in christianity up till now. Sorry to say this but y'all have been brainwashed.

Wake up and smell the pheromones.

god doesn't give you shit, You have to wake up and grind for what you want. It's simple nature, Work hard, Be patient and Persistent and you will be rewarded. god has nothing to do with this.🙄😒

By just living a life , action reaction .
Not that we can always see wath destiny we create or where the path we are on leads us to .
We mostly create destiny by trying hard to avoid certain destinations . We set goals to reach , we live our lives doing our best to reach a desired destiny encountering al kind off problems or good things that can or will change our destiny .
When the plane crashed down ,.. it was me that boarded it , i , unknowingly created that destiny for me . ;-)

-I believe in destiny! A simple explanation or example was Jesus' life..he was a living example of during his time. God sent him here as the son of God to save us from our sins, he knew all and everything that will go to happen, another one was Judas, Jesus informed him during the last supper that he is going to betray him for 30 pieces of silver, so it was his destiny, and a lot more examples in the Bible about destiny. So everything happens for a reason because all of us has a purpose..for ourselves, for other people, and our community, yes we have the will to do what we think best for us, but because of destiny, whatever process or ways we choose to use, the result is still what is written in our destiny, unless God gives us precious gift that if he see the purity of our heart and soul maybe. Let God be the center of life always! Thank you for sharing these wonderful posts. God bless you!

Have a blessed morning!😊🌷❤
