The Battle for Fort Mitodake Begins. Epic Samurai Combat

As planned, Lord Shimura and I began advancing towards Fort Mitodake. We had to capture this fort today, no matter what; as long as it remained in Mongol hands, Goro and his boat would have no way of safely crossing the sea.

As I neared the fort, I saw a group of Mongol soldiers leaving and heading somewhere. I suggested to Lord Shimura, "Let them go; we can simply slip into the fort unnoticed." But he understood nothing but honorable combat. Disregarding stealth, he drew his sword and launched a direct attack. I was left with no choice but to join the fight.

There were many enemies. So, without delay, I threw a smoke bomb. As the area filled with smoke, I used 'Chain Assassination' to take out three of them in an instant. I easily dispatched the remaining three or four with my sword.

However, the sounds of the struggle alerted the soldiers inside the fort. They came rushing towards us. Once again, three soldiers stepped forward first. I used a smoke bomb and executed a chain assassination; in an instant, all three slumped to the ground.

Then, more soldiers started emerging. Fortunately, I still had another smoke bomb with me, so I used that as well. Once again, I took out three of them at once. Honestly, when a large number of enemies surround you, few things are as effective as a smoke bomb; it leaves the enemies disoriented for a moment, giving you the chance to easily eliminate several of them.

Two archers remained. They were firing flaming arrows at me one after another from a distance. I used the 'Arrow Deflect' skill to parry the arrows with my sword. I rushed forward and cut one of them down with a single stroke. As the other tried to flee, I drew my bow and took him down with an arrow.

The funny thing is, by the time I had already killed seven or eight soldiers, I saw Lord Shimura still fighting the very first soldier he had engaged! In the end, I had to step in and finish off that soldier myself.

We opened the main gate and stepped inside. Everything seemed quiet. But as we ventured further in, flaming arrows began raining down simultaneously from the walls above. Many Mongol archers were targeting us. I quickly took cover behind a wall. Then, I drew my bow and took out the archers one by one. Lord Shimura simply stood waiting below, as there was nothing he could do against the distant enemies.

After all the archers were killed, we advanced further. There, we clashed with a few more soldiers. They were not very strong, so we defeated them easily.

As I moved upwards, two more archers firing flaming arrows suddenly launched an attack. This time, a flaming arrow struck me. Even though my body caught fire, I didn't stop; I charged straight at them and cut both of them down with my sword. Then, I used 'Resolve' to fully restore my health.

That was the time when the real danger came. A massive Hwacha atop the hill began raining down fire arrows upon us; twenty or thirty of them were hurtling towards us at once. I realized that this was the very weapon used to destroy ships at sea. Therefore, we had to capture it at any cost.

Mongol soldiers kept intercepting us along the way. They were armed with a variety of weapons. some carried shields, others wielded dual swords, and some wore heavy armor. The battle became far more difficult than before.
Just as I was about to use a smoke bomb, I realized it was all over. So I threw the kunai I was carrying to throw the enemies off balance, then finished them off one by one with my sword.

As I reached the area between a few houses, Mongol soldiers emerged from all sides. Using kunai, my bow, and perfect parries, I gradually took them all down. I had gained enough experience with perfect parries and counter-attacks that handling even large groups didn't pose much of a problem.

The Hwacha didn't pause for even a moment. Fiery arrows came hurtling towards us one after another. However, a white circle would appear on the ground right before an impact occurred. Spotting these markers allowed me to move out of the way in time, so I avoided any serious harm.
However, the real battle is yet to come. To get right up to the Hwacha, we will have to face many more soldiers. In the next episode, we will see whether we can finally capture this fearsome weapon.

Jin suggested the easiest plan possible, and Shimura immediately chose violence instead. That was the most Shimura thing ever. He really refused to sneak around when there was a chance he'd die.
Lord Shimura choosing a frontal assault over your stealth suggestion properly showed his samurai character. It made the battle much harder, but it fit his personality perfectly.
I liked how you switched from smoke bombs to kunai without panicking. The fight never really slowed you down. The chain assassinations looked so satisfying.
yeahh,, the most effective attack in this game bro, smoke+chain assassination
Shimura kept talking about honor, but I was fully on board with your stealth idea from the beginning. Look how the fort turned into absolute chaos when you followed Shimura's plan.
It is fortunate for me that, in reality, my actual uncle is not like Lord Shimura.😵
Arrow Deflect is such an underrated skill. Reflecting flaming arrows before charging the archers makes Jin an incredibly skilled warrior.
yes it is but most of the time I forget to do that and take damage 😆
Great photos of medieval Japan! Seeing them in black and white, some shots look like something out of a Kurosawa film!
