Different varieties, different result

First of all, I am so sorry if I feel like I was spamming the community with my garden update in these past few posts. I want to show you the recent state of my shallot in the rice field; with the same treatment, give a different result on different shallot varieties.

Look at the shallot below, it look skinny isn't i? this one is from the Tajuk Variety, one of the shallot varieties that is bred in East Java. I have planted this variety a few times now, but it always has disease issues. I still could not find the right way to cultivate it in my area.

What I like about this type is that if they grow well, they can be sold in a better price than the one that I will show you later. But growing them has been quite an issue for me so far.

Now on the second variety, this one is called Bali Karet. It grows quite well, and it seems that they are a lot stronger towards the disease compared to Tajuk above. But the problem usually is that they tend to have fewer shoots from each bulb, so the harvest might be lower.

The good thing is that usually they have a bigger bulb size, so it will be easier to sell. The other issue is that they tend to be cheaper, as they rot quite fast if not handled correctly. But I will have to see for the real harvest to see the real comparison.

Did you get the seed from Nganjuk? Have you tried the one from Brebes, they are known to be more superior and often being cultivated throughout east-java. I know a bawang merah petani too and it is grown in higher altitude. What's your current altitude?

Yes Cem, I get them from Nganjuk from one of the youtuber. !LOLZ
I have tried the one from Brebes on my very first try, but it didn't do well, also it was quite expensive back then.
Maybe next time I will try to grow them again with my recent experience, I mgiht get better result.

At the moment the rice field is around 500 meters above sea level Cem, kinda in the middle altitude, with a lot of rain during the rainy season. :)

ooh I heard rainy season isn't good if you're growing shallots. Perhaps, that's why.
