This journey began some years ago, and today it is a dream that has come to reality. I heard people say so many things even from the time that the ground breaking ceremony was done, In fact at some point i had began to believe that, this project will be like many other heavy project without the state and around the nation of Nigeria, but today like a joke, its finally come true.

The st. Gabriel factory that was commissioned few days ago, is said to have the capacity to comfortably employ over 3000 direct workers and as well, will have the capacity to crack about 1,000,000 nuts in 24hours..

The Coconut Oil Factory is one of the a major Project that the government of Akwa Ibom state have engage in the last many years, it is indeed a major industrial investment, that is done by the Akwa Ibom State Government, the structure that has been commissioned and production has as well began.

The Factory comprises of a factory complex, administrative offices, production areas, technical spaces, also industrial firefighting systems, water treatment plants, effluent treatment plants, and residential quarters for technical and managerial staff as well as parking areas for several raw materials bearing vehicles

The project is located at Ikot Akpan Okop village of mkpat enin local government, along the East-West Road in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The project that we saw commissioned few days back, was flagged off by the present government, under the leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel, the ground breaking was done about four ago, precisely on May 24th, 2017.

I can remember that there was a plantation of a whooping 2million fast yielding hybrid coconut trees, on an 11,000 hectare of land, between mkpat enin, ikot abasi and easten obolo, at the St Gabriel plantation, we were also told that there will be other coconut plantations at Okobo, Okon -Eket and other locations in the State, we also have confirm that there are plantations in those locations as was promised.

This as we are told is the largest coconut plantation in Africa, and also the most ambitious coconut project that can be talked about in the world.

I will say that this is the kind of project the the Nigerian Government should engage in other to stabilize her economy and reduces dependency on crude oil.
All that we can now see is a conscious effort, put together by the leadership of Governor Udom Emmanuel to be able to fixed the state and balance the ongoing high level of porverty and unenployment in the State, Akwa Ibom is known to be the highest crude oil producing State in Nigeria and as a matter of fact have over the years relied on petroleum for survival.
