MY PALM PLANTATION, MY PLANS TO STORE AND SALES PALM OIL: MY BANANA YARD
Greetings to all my readers and fellow famers, I love to say that this community is one of the amazing community I have come to engage, I see this is as a rear opportunity to learn about agricultural activities across the globe and as well ask question to gain solutions to the that one may be experiencing in the field as a farmer.
I really want to appreciate the community admin, @mattsanthonyit for the commitment to bringing so much light to the field of agriculture and also creating a gift in the minds of farmers, I leant from him that agriculture does not really need much space to engage in small agricultural practices, I love what you are doing, please keep it up, your effort so far has inspired many, in a very short time from now, you will be seeing the mindset that you have cultured in me in the last few months.
Today I will be sharing about my little palm tree plantation which I reluctantly engage in about 2 years and 3 months ago, this happen to be the smallest plantation done in my family, we do have a big plantation that is own and managed by the family but I decided to do something small for myself, at least for the start.
I was privilege to be given a few palm seedlings from a friend who is working with the minister of agriculture, in our state, though it was few but I knew that the future will be great, I was thinking about a place but to plant it due to the fact that my mum is already vegetable plantations, but as I got to the village, I was able to trace out a place for the 5 available seedlings, so I told my mum as someone who thought us the mindset to agriculture she encouraged me to move on, today the journey I began two years and 3 months ago, is yielding result than am proud of.
I was given two varieties To test run while I make plans for the journey ahead, The one I can recall, was tenera species, this is a cross of two different species which are Dura and Pesifera this cross species has kernel with a thin shell, to enable the production of more oil.
Visiting my home town last weekend was an amazing experience for me, though my mum had told me that my plantation has begun yielding fruits but I did not know that it has gone that far, from my analysis, each of the palm, has a bunch clusters of more than 10 to 12 bunch per stand, looking at the four that I planted, that means i will be looking at about over 40 bunch at the coming harvest. Though I see the bunches being smaller at the first fruit season but I know that we will get better in the next year’s harvest season.
My plans To process, Store and sale palm oil:
Though my family in the last few years have constantly produce the oil in a little larger quantity, we have been doing the processing in the community general mile, which we have to pay much to process the palm fruit before sailing the oil. I intend to start buying the oil in quantities of about 200 litters and store them for sales in the next raining season. I tell you the truth, the profit rate is good, so far as I relate with people who were able to but in the last harvest season, the profit is about a 100%, and even more. Getting about 200litters will take about $320, That to me for now is huge, but I am planning towards making that a reality. Also with your support I can make it.
Visitation to my mums Garden:
This banana is just as you can see, i love the height and the yield, am already making demands for 5 sucker for my plantation. and am sure i will be granted.
Pepper and waterleaf
every time am home, like this, my mum will give me an amazing treatment, let me not border you with that one,
Thanks for stopping by my blog, i will be giving you update on the oil sales and how it goes, your support will go a long way, this is my new hive project. i celebrate @steempty and @life-timer for the amazing support to the community. thanks for having me @ekotmordemy
