IN ENGLISH

I have always been a fan of my country Venezuela, I think it has really beautiful landscapes and, above all, full of history and interesting anecdotes; I even confess that one of my greatest dreams is to travel and know every corner of each Venezuelan state.

This time, @leninernesto and I, together with other friends, went to visit the state of Carabobo, specifically the beautiful puerto cabello, historic, beautiful place, full of a coastal breeze that fills you with life, and even makes you feel part of everything that happened there more than 100 years ago.

Today I want to introduce you to Fortín Solano, an impressive military fortress that dates back to the canyons, although today its main attraction is its 360 degree viewpoint overlooking the entire coast of Puerto Helo. Climbing its almost 500 meters high I felt like one of those military men, I find this kind of constructions interesting, fascinating and even relaxing, so without saying more, I will tell you my experience since I stepped on the San Esteban National Park.

The Arrival

FORTIN ENTRANCE

Although the idea of the weekend was to do some exercise, some friends invited us to do something a little different, so I put on comfortable clothes, sport shoes and we started the engine of the car to travel from Caracas to Carabobo, it is a sunny day, with perfect blue and very hot, no doubt you feel when you get to puerto cabello, is an indescribable smell, is a different breeze, is an exciting feeling.

We had no idea where the entrance was and as we did not have much phone signal, we decided to get there the old way, that is, asking the beautiful people, a nice man did not give the exact address of where the entrance of the fort began, and it really is located at the top of a mountain. That moment brought back many memories of my visit to the virgin of peace, since it is a very similar road: high, steep, full of careful curves and lots of local vegetation, especially cactus.

At the top of the mountain we arrived at the fort, it has a parking lot in front of a view that has no comparison, there were only us at the beginning, although some time later 2 more cars arrived, with about 7 people, the first thing we see is a very well maintained restaurant with a very nice finish, rustic landscapes to take pictures and the stairs that finally take you to the great stone fortress.

Exploring the fortress

The truth from the bottom I thought it was going to be much bigger, but the truth, the space to explore is quite short, about 3 floors, but completely worth it, since at the top is the magical viewpoint, there are many places to take pictures, talk, enjoy the moment and perhaps relive the lives of those who exercised their functions there more than 100 years ago.

I confess that we lasted about 15 minutes trying to figure out how to get up hehe, since the door that gives access to the main stairs was locked; however, some time later a nice young man came with the key and gave us access to the place, in the back there is a dirt road that takes you through a special planted with cactus of all kinds and sizes, really interesting, there is a lot of biodiversity.

The farewell

FAREWELL TO THE FORTINVIEW OF THE FORTINVIEW OF THE FORTIN

I left there very happy, it reminded me that my country is pure, that it breathes, that it invites you to live the magic of its past in the present, that much of what we lived years ago represents a large part of our present, it also invites you to take care of it, to remember it, to feel it and without further words to enjoy it. A place that I definitely recommend you to visit on a weekend.

EN ESPAÑOL

SEPARADOR JOSEPH.png
