My Sunset Trip at Geulumpang Raya Beach [GRB Story]

Hello #travel lovers and #sunset seekers..

Early in February, the weather was very pleasant. The sky was clear and the clouds weren't too dense. Thus, I decided to continue looking for a beautiful sunset. I didn't know what the results would be, but I predicted that I would get successful results. I visited Geulumpang Raya Beach this time. There is a distance of approximately 10 km between my place and this beach in Aceh Jaya's western region. Also, reaching this location is fairly easy since it is located right along the Meulaboh Banda Aceh Main Road.

I used a car to come to this place. From November 2022 to January 2023, I never stopped here. The rain and clouds continued throughout the month. I've mentioned before that it's not the right time to look for sunsets. The scenery here is a bit boring if there is no sunset. Maybe the sunset is the reason people stop here. There is a lot of open sea and there are three small islands there, not suitable as a background for photos. But if the background is sunset, it is certainly very beautiful for silhouette photos.

I was getting ready to leave at 17.50 PM. I estimated that I would arrive at the place in approximately 15 minutes to 25 minutes with an average speed of 100/KM. Because the road conditions here were very smooth, wide, and straight, don't be surprised if I chased a bit faster this time. Some of the villages I had to pass through to get here were Batee Tutong, Sayeung, Lhok Buya, Setia Bakti, Rigaih, and Krueng Raneu. Finally, I arrived at Geulumpang Raya Beach at 18.10 pm.

The experience of traveling in Aceh Jaya is incomplete without visiting several beaches that are of enchanting beauty. Aceh Jaya indeed has dozens of beaches with their own uniqueness and charm. This beach has a long coastline, as you can see in this photo. The length of this beach is approximately 5 kilometers. I think this beach is very pleasant, but there is something that makes me a bit surprised. Why on this beach is it forbidden to swim in the sea? At first glance, I see that this beach is safe. It was an official announcement, and I did not question it since the appeal must have been thoroughly researched. Let's go back to my original goal, which was to chase the sunset.

As seen in this photo, the beauty of this afternoon's sunset was beyond my expectations. Over the last few days, I have often been unlucky to witness sunsets. I was lucky to get it. Look how beautiful it is when the sunset is on the right side of Peureuleung Island (an uninhabited island). This small island is like a picture-perfect silhouette. Cikem Island, a small island next to it, was equally affected by the color of the sky. The combination of the color of the sky, the waves, and the silhouette of the island is really very beautiful.

If you look to the right, there are hills, land, and coconut plantations. I didn't walk there because it was too far to walk on the beach and I didn't have enough time. I didn't want to miss the moments of taking pictures here.

It turns out that I'm not the only one who is interested in the beauty of sunsets here. I noticed that near the stall there were two men who were also trying to capture the sunset. I approached them both and asked them. They are truck drivers and usually rest here. I tried to make them into silhouette models. I must say that today was very beautiful and truly extraordinary. They shared with me the same admiration for the beauty of the sunset, even though they came from different backgrounds. We all agreed that it was truly a special moment and it was a privilege to be able to experience it together.

God continues to provide me and them with the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of His creation.

For your information, this beach was also hit by devastating tsunami waves in 2004, so many parts of the beach were badly damaged. Fortunately, the disaster did not damage the beauty of this beach. Geulumpang Raya Beach is very exotic to me because when you arrive here, you can immediately see the panorama of the beach. You will immediately find white sand along the shoreline. The sand is also so soft that in the afternoon you can lie on the sand while enjoying the breeze that blows. Don't try it in daylight, you will get burned because there are no trees to protect you from the sun. But don't worry, you can just bring your own umbrella and a beach chair for some shade!

What about the facilities on this beach? Well, the facilities here are quite adequate. Behind me, besides the big road, there is a fairly large and unpaid parking lot. In this lot, there are food stalls that provide seafood such as lobsters and crabs, and these stalls also have toilets. It's simple. Maybe it's because this place is not familiar and the location is beside the main road, so they just pass by and don't stop. Maybe that's the reason why it's so simple.

Finally, the sky started to darken, but the remnants of the sunset were still apparent. In the sky, golden yellow is no longer dominant, transforming into beautiful color. Yellow, red, and a little blue accompanied by the appearance of the moon behind the hill behind me. A beautiful thing that seemed to remind me to go home. It was a wonderful homecoming. Yup, that was my story this afternoon in trying to capture the sunset here.

The hues of the sky and the beauty of the setting sun created a sense of peace and tranquility that made me want to stay in that moment forever. The orange glow of the sky and the blue twilight created a captivating atmosphere that was a reminder of the beauty of nature and the importance of home. Bye... Bye.. Geulumpang Raya Beach. Stay beautiful and natural. We will meet again later at other attractions. 😃
