Grand Renggali Hotel : Arabian style but lacking a local touch
Hi... Hive Lovers...
It's great if you visit a place that is always discussed and it's your first time visiting the place. Yes, this is my story about some time ago when I visited the Grand Renggali Hotel in Takengon. I'm not going to talk about how I got here because it would be boring to talk about my training and always be in the room arguing about the law. It would be interesting to tell on the sidelines of a break when I saw the architecture of this hotel.
This time I want to tell you about this hotel building where this hotel is full of new changes and changes in traditional stigma. I don't really understand if this is good or not, because the new and old buildings are very different. However, all of my current places have told me a lot about this place, starting from the enthusiasm, tourist icons, and the luxurious view that this hotel currently provides. It will be very interesting if you see it immediately then you will be surprised to see its beauty.
Hotel Renggali (past) became Grand Renggali Hotel (present).
Yes, that is so. Previously the name of this hotel was Hotel Renggali, but after the entry of new investors, this hotel changed to Grand Renggali Hotel. You must know that the existence of this hotel has been tested for decades, this hotel has survived during the Aceh conflict, the covid pandemic, and until now. In the past, the look of this hotel was different from what you see today. Please check the following link for the view of this hotel in the past.
In the view of people today, the appearance of this hotel building is very attractive compared to before. But both then and now, this hotel remains one of the tourist icons in Takengon City. Why? because it's the only hotel in Takengon and right beside Lut Tawar Lake. Of course, this is a valuable asset when this display becomes newer than it is today. You can find information about Lake Lut Tawar and its beauty in the narratives of tourists' stories. Surely you will find talk about this hotel.
Well, here I want to give a little comparison of how this hotel used to be and how it looks now. So, in the past, this hotel was built with the characteristics of Gayo-style buildings such as the characteristics of the roof and the rooms are many insulated and have typical regional graffiti here, while now all these characteristics are gone and replaced with Arabic building models, the only character that stands out. left only a horse statue depicting a traditional horse race here.
I will show how this hotel building was in the past and try to pay attention for a moment, maybe you can give a bigger zoom in this photo. In the past, the background of the blue lake, green mountains, and rocks around Lake Lut Tawar, would be very synergistic with striking colors such as red, white, and black.

Now
As I said above, the building of this hotel is now a typical Arabian peninsula building. With a dominant cream color and dark brown. If you associate the dominant color with local culture, of course, this is very contradictory. In gayo culture, red, black, and orange are the dominant colors. So it can almost be said that the choice of color for this building does not absorb the aspirations of the color of the local culture. I don't dislike it, but it's just that, as one of the tourist icons, what is introduced is the characteristic of the area itself.
In general, the hotel building has a good design as it features something new, with nice rooms and all views overlooking the lake. Here, in the morning, afternoon and evening, you don't need an Air Conditioner, because the weather here is very cool. While here, you will not realize that you are dehydrated from thirst. You rarely feel thirsty if the air here is very cold.
The arrangement of the building is also good and the facilities are now much more attractive and maintained than before. Three main buildings, two for lodging and one is a building for resorts. I think it's interesting to place the restaurant in the middle so that visitors will come out of their rooms and walk into the restaurant building while enjoying the coolness of the place.
You can imagine how nice it is to be in a room with cool air but you will lose being in the room all day. Getting hungry and going to a restaurant is the best way to avoid that. No need to worry, you can also order food to be delivered to your room.
Another interesting thing about this hotel is that it is now more cleaner and also has a large parking area. Of course, we agree that one of the things we look for in a hotel is cleanliness and comfort. The Covid protocol at this hotel is also solid so we are not afraid of getting infected.
Yes, maybe this is all I can say about the Hotel Grand Renggali hotel building. What do you think ? Is this building more interesting and will you visit here? Hopefully my presentation will be a good reference for people who want to come here.
