Hello #hive and #photography lovers..

My post begins with an expression of joy as I realize that today I was able to discover a valuable ability within myself that I never knew existed. In fact, I am not sure if I had ever realized this until just recently and why I never looked for it within myself before discovering it. I am grateful, however, that it was through a process of exploring myself that I was finally able to find it. Surely, you will have a few questions on your mind, but do not be rushed if you do not know the answer right away. In the following paragraphs, I will take a look at it in more detail.

If you pay attention to my posts, you will notice that they are really random in nature. Sometimes, I write about a trip, tourist attractions, philosophy, self-motivation, or simple things that may seem simple. One thing is certain: I intersperse the writing with pictures from my own collection. Some time ago, I began to think that the photos I received were ordinary and not developed. At the same time, black-and-white photos and tips on how to get good shots were always appearing on my Instagram. Well, this eventually led me to want to study black and white more in depth.

I have always shown photos with autofocus, which is what I enjoy using since the camera will work automatically to get the best results. To determine how deep the focus is, this autofocus mode will use a sensor that is intended to measure focus with various factors. Simply put, a photographer does not have to do anything to the lens (or even the camera) to get sharp focus. This means that if a photographer uses autofocus mode correctly, they can expect consistently sharp images without any effort.

As someone who is learning how to photograph, this works to my advantage but sometimes the results using autofocus are less accurate when the main subject and the background are similar in color, or when the subject is half exposed to the sun and half shadowed, or also when the situation is too dark, and also when there are other objects between the camera and the subject. Those situations sometimes force me to leave the object and look for another angle. Especially when I use autofocus, my old-school camera tends to focus on the center area.

I picked up the camera and started to fiddle with the menus for about an hour. I don't know what the theory is, I just practiced it one by one the modes there and saw the results. Finally, I changed the lens to manual focus and began using the manual setting method. And this is where I realized how enjoyable the sensation of using manual settings with a manual focus lens was. I was so engrossed that my friend who was asking for my signature for a letter was marginalized because of this new toy.

When I used the manual focus mode, I really activated my hand functions. My left hand twirled the focus ring on the lens, my brain and eyes had to be in sync to judge the accuracy, and my right hand had to be patient to press the shutter button. Even holding the camera and adjusting my breathing had to be in sync because I wasn't standing on a tripod. Just imagine, as someone who is new to utilizing this feature and hasn't really gotten used to it. This means that the photos I get will be a bit out of focus/blurry.

This black beetle is my proof of using manual focus. I deliberately took this deformed beetle and gathered some white stones, some sand, small wood, and a leaf. I honestly wanted to see how the combination would turn out if the main object was a black beetle. Honestly, I think what I got today was better than before. The sensation was very real to me and I made good progress. In addition to expressing my satisfaction and happiness, I smiled at myself and my friends.

I don't know about your opinion but please don't compare me to a professional photographer. It's not balanced because I'm still learning. Yup, in the end, I realized that I couldn't leave autofocus behind. This is because manual focus can be the fastest and most accurate choice when situations are 'unfavorable' when I use autofocus mode. Autofocus mode can be a great tool for quickly capturing a moment, but it can struggle in certain environments, such as in low light or when the subject is moving rapidly. In these cases, manual focus can be more precise and give better results.

Well, this is my today's short story, I'm learning manual focus more seriously and trying to achieve good results. Thank you, Beetle, for being my temporary model today. I return you to your natural habitat. Fight on even if your legs are no longer symmetrical, and thank you for reminding me not to settle for one point. When switching from Autofocus to Manual Focus, I hope the good results will be pushed.
