Theme: A memorable Trip: My Terrible Experience With Night Travelling

Hive everyone, it good to be part of this initiative though i just missed the just concluded DIY Initiative because of time.

Travelling are always fun filled and exciting, travel registers a whole new set of experiences in our lives. A few reasons why we should travel are:
Expanding your perspective, Building and strengthening relationships, Having an adventure and lots more. As good as this sounds, it also has some bad memories it sometimes leaves us with like in the case of my return from Edo State back to Akwa Ibom.

While a lot of people tell the enormous splendor of night trips, i would be sincere to say that i hate it with all i have got.

I had the opportunity to make a long distance travel for the first time sometime in August 2015 to Edo State for a camp meeting at the Church of God International Headquarter Balm of Gilead.

Luck really didn't shine on me this time because i could not raise my complete transportation fare for the journey and so i had to chill and join the next bus which i didn't really know when it was arriving.

When departure sometimes is stressful, i suspect the entire journey itself might not really be a smooth one though that is not really true every time. We finally left Uyo at about 6:00pm after the first bus had left an hour ago.

The trip began very successfully as we departed Akwa Ibom from Uyo the State capital precisely Eka Street the 19th building. I mean it was fun everywhere, great smiles, excitement, high hopes and great expectations as where we were going to has always been a huge blessing to us became night soon because we left rather too late for a journey that far.

From Akwa Ibom State into Abia and far into Rivers State, the journey was full of so much energy, everyone was happy, buying from sellers on the road side as we move was an epoch scene during the trip. At about 9pm everyone in the bus had already retired to bed except me and please don't think am a late sleeper or call me a strong man cause that is not it. I think I don't really like sleeping during travels because i want to be awake to catch all the sight that happens on the way, well that's not the only reason, am always afraid of Night journeys perhaps because of the experience love ones and friends have told me about night travel when they come for holiday during the festive season.

Knowledge on its own has the capacity to change our perceptions about a thing whether positively or negatively.

My hatred for this particular trip began the when our vehicle ran low of gas in the middle Port Harcourt Ikot Abasi Express way in the womb of darkness. Funny things happens every time. Our driver never told us before now that his vehicle has a slit engine misunderstanding with it gas control system and that made it consume enough gas much more than it was supposed to consume. I just couldn’t exhaust my hate for him at that very moment for making such a terrible mistake. This is why I really hated my driver for that trip, our actual fare for the trip was Sixty Thousand Naira(N60,000.00) which is equivalent tohundred and seventy two dollars as at the time but we ended up spending more than the actual transportation fare for acquiring gas on the way.

Guess where the gas got finished… It was on the Port Harcourt Ikot Abasi Bridge, for God sake this is not just the right place for our gas to get finished. Till this day I still get scared remembering that particular trip though I have since after that had couple of sweet trips to different places in Nigeria.

While we wait to get the gas, we heard a gun shot, please can someone take me to my mummy i don't wanna go again was a scream from one of us. Finaaly after the long wait, we got the gas and we continued in the trip but getting to Sapele we had the similar experience again but this time it was more serious than the first one. This time the road was actually blocked and our driver told us to start saying the Lord's. By the help of God, we could escape that and cause our driver had to run over the blockage and while trying that, he almost ran into the ravine that was close by.

That's is how i began hating Night journeys.
