This week we had a holiday, and guess what I did? Instead of going somewhere to relax, I ended up working harder than at my actual job.

I decided to clean the air conditioner in my bedroom, and it turned out to be quite a task. Every three months, I remove the filter and wash it with water, but this time I decided to do a much deeper cleaning. I disassembled several parts of the unit and also cleaned the evaporator blower wheel — that cylindrical component that spins and distributes the cold air throughout the room.

The job was quite labor-intensive because I cleaned everything in place using a very damp paintbrush. After spending nearly 30 minutes cleaning each fin of the blower wheel one by one, I applied a special cleaning product to dissolve the accumulated dust.

I kept dipping the brush into a tray of water, and surprisingly, the water became very dirty, filled with dark dust. What's interesting is that you can hardly see this dirt because the blower wheel itself is black. Even so, I cleaned everything carefully and thoroughly. After the cleaning, the air conditioner felt like a completely different machine. The room had a fresher and cleaner atmosphere.

Once I finished cleaning the air conditioner, I decided to give the entire bedroom a good cleaning as well. I removed all the dust and dirt that had accumulated on the walls and floor, changed the bed sheets, and left everything spotless. By then, the whole morning was gone.

Since I was already dealing with a cold, I ended up having several sneezing fits from stirring up so much dust and felt pretty miserable for the rest of the day. That was part of how I spent my Corpus Christi holiday on Thursday.

Nessa semana teve um feriado, e adivinha o que eu fiz? Em vez de sair para algum lugar e relaxar, trabalhei mais do que no meu próprio trabalho.

Resolvi limpar o ar-condicionado do meu quarto, e deu bastante trabalho. A cada três meses eu retiro o filtro e lavo com água, mas desta vez decidi fazer uma limpeza mais profunda. Desmontei várias partes do aparelho e limpei também a turbina evaporadora — aquele cilindro que gira e distribui o ar frio pelo ambiente.

O serviço foi trabalhoso porque fiz a limpeza no próprio local, usando um pincel bem úmido. Depois de quase 30 minutos limpando aleta por aleta da turbina, apliquei um produto específico para dissolver a poeira acumulada.

Eu sempre mergulhava o pincel em uma bandeja com água e, por incrível que pareça, a água ficava bastante suja, com uma poeira escura. E olha que essa sujeira quase não é visível, já que a turbina é preta. Mesmo assim, limpei tudo com bastante cuidado e dedicação. Depois da limpeza, o ar-condicionado parecia outro. O ambiente ficou com um ar mais fresco e agradável.

Quando terminei o ar-condicionado, inventei de fazer uma faxina no quarto também. Removi toda a poeira e sujeira acumuladas nas paredes e no chão, troquei os lençóis e deixei tudo impecável. No final, a manhã inteira já tinha ido embora.

Como eu já estava gripado, acabei tendo várias crises de espirro por mexer com tanta poeira e fiquei bem mal durante o resto do dia. Essa foi uma parte do meu feriado de Corpus Christi, na quinta-feira.
