[ENG-ESP] My first trip thanks to Hive: Cascada del Vino (Wine Waterfall)⛰️🍃

Traveling and getting to know the beautiful places that Venezuela offers is one of my greatest passions, there are so many places to visit that sometimes I feel that a lifetime is not enough to travel the country; therefore, I try to take every opportunity that presents itself and say “Yes” to everything, enjoy the moment.

So, I set myself the goal of going on at least one trip a month, to any place I can go. This month, I fulfilled a dream that I have been carrying since last year… To visit the Cascada del Vino✨ (wine waterfall)

Here I will tell you all about my experience, but I would also like to emphasize that I am very proud of this little trip because, for the first time, I took care of all my personal expenses, and it was thanks to my work on this amazing Hive platform 💖

Viajar y conocer los hermosos lugares que nos ofrece Venezuela es una de mis mayores pasiones, hay tantos sitios por visitar que en ocasiones siento que una vida no es suficiente para recorrer el país; por lo tanto, intento aprovechar cada oportunidad que se presenta y decirle “Sí” a todo, disfrutar del momento.

Por ende, me coloqué como meta, realizar un paseo o viaje al mes, como mínimo, a cualquier lugar que pueda ir. Y así fue, como este mes, cumplí un sueño que vengo arrastrando desde el año pasado… Visitar la Cascada del Vino✨

Aquí te contaré toda mi experiencia, pero también quisiera destacar que estoy muy orgullosa de este pequeño viaje porque, por primera vez, me hice cargo de todos mis gastos personales, y fue gracias a mi trabajo en esta increíble plataforma de Hive💖

As I have mentioned in previous posts, I have a favorite travel agency (and to whom I am loyal):Travelbqto🌴
Last month I went with them on a longer trip to Choroní, but this time we stayed in Lara State, specifically in the town of Barbacoas, to visit the Cascada del Vino🍃

This little adventure was a full day, so it was an exhausting Saturday, but I would do it again without a doubt. It all started at 4 am, and it's amazing how much willpower it takes to get up early to do exercise, but how easy it is that I got up quickly and with energy for a trip, I even did my makeup!

At 5 am the bus arrived, and a detail that I love about them is that they pick you up at your house, and on the way back they drop you off at the same place. Very convenient. And the trip started right there, because we were the last ones to pick up.

El mes pasado fui con ellos a un viaje más largo a Choroní, pero en esta ocasión nos quedamos en el Estado Lara, específicamente en el pueblo de Barbacoas, para visitar la Cascada del Vino🍃

Esta pequeña aventura fue un full day, así que fue un sábado agotador, pero que lo volvería a hacer sin ninguna duda. Todo comenzó a las 4 am, y es increíble la fuerza de voluntad que requiere madrugar para ir a ejercitarme, pero lo fácil qué es que me levanté rápido y con energía para un viaje, ¡hasta me maquillé!

A las 5 am llegó el bus, y un detalle que me encanta de ellos es que te buscan a tu casa, y de regreso te dejan en el mismo lugar. Muy cómodo. Y ahí mismo comenzó el viaje, porque fuimos los últimos en recoger.

We made a short stop in the Arenales area, at a gas pump, to go to the bathroom and have a coffee with milk☕ The ride is long, about four hours, and the bus must be slow because of the many curves in the road, but hey! The views are incredible✨ If you are afraid of heights, I don't recommend sitting next to the window, and it is better to sleep on the trip, due to the fact that you never stop seeing the cliff, you have to keep in mind that almost all the way is uphill towards the mountain.

But when you get to the villages, like San Pedro and Barbacoas, the view doubles in beauty. As my father said, it is incredible that despite the fact that you are always climbing, when you reach the villages everything is flat, but you are still on top of the mountain. The fog accompanied us all morning, and it is as if there is no drought up there, because everything was green and colorful.

Hicimos una corta parada en la zona de Arenales, en una bomba de gasolina, para ir al baño y tomarnos un cafecito con leche☕ El recorrido es largo, aproximadamente como cuatro horas, y el bus debe ir lento por la multitud de curvas en la carretera, pero hey! Las vistas son increíbles✨ Si tienes miedo a las alturas, no te recomiendo sentarte al lado de la ventana, y es mejor que duermas en el viaje, debido a que nunca paras de ver el acantilado, hay que tener en cuenta que casi todo el camino es cuesta arriba hacia la montaña.

Pero al llegar a los pueblos, como San Pedro y Barbacoas, la vista duplica su belleza. Como dijo mi padre, es increíble que a pesar de estar siempre subiendo, cuando llegas a los pueblos todo es plano, pero sigues estando en la cima de la montaña. La niebla nos acompañó toda la mañana, y es como si allá arriba no hay la sequía, porque todo era verde y colorido.

You see a lot of chalet style houses, and I was enchanted. Also, you see a lot of animals on the road: cows, horses, goats… And they were all very cute! 🥺 People waved at the bus, and showed us the way to our destination. In Barbacoas we made a very short stop to appreciate the town's church, and after about half an hour, we could finally glimpse the Inparques logo, indicating that we had arrived at Dinira National Park.

From here only vehicles suitable for the terrain can pass, because the road to the waterfall is dangerous for buses, so we were left at the entrance of the park, where a representative of Inparques welcomed us and gave us the instructions of the place, and from there we had to walk down the trail. And, secretly, I loved this detail🤭 I enjoy hiking too much, even if the next day I don't feel my legs.

Ves muchas casas estilo chalets, y quedé encantada. Además, ves un montón de animales en el camino: vacas, caballos, chivos… ¡Y todos eran muy lindos!🥺 Las personas saludaban al bus, y nos indicaba cuál era el camino hacia nuestro destino. En Barbacoas hicimos una muy corta parada para apreciar la Iglesia del pueblo, y después de alrededor de media hora, finalmente pudimos vislumbrar el logo de Inparques, indicando que ya habíamos llegado al Parque Nacional Dinira.

A partir de acá solo pueden pasar vehículos aptos para el terreno, porque el camino hacia la cascada es peligroso para los buses; por esto, nos dejaron en la entrada del parque, dónde un representante de Inparques nos dio la bienvenida y las instrucciones del lugar, y a partir de allí debíamos bajar caminando por el sendero. Y, secretamente, amé este detalle🤭 Disfruto demasiado el senderismo, aunque el día siguiente no sienta las piernas.

I feel like it was about 15 or 20 minutes walking, at the beginning it is easy because it is downhill (the hard part was to go back😬). On the left-hand side you appreciate the view that only nature can give you, you breathe fresh and pure air, and the breeze accompanies you at all times. There is no sign, there is no civilization very close, it is a moment to disconnect from society and enjoy the place, the moment, the life.

After several minutes we began to hear the distant sound of running water, and after passing the mountain, we arrived at the viewpoint. And I saw, for the first time, the Cascada del Vino in the distance. The emotion I felt was deep, I had been manifesting that moment for a year, and finally it was there 🤍

Siento que fueron como 15 o 20 minutos caminando, al principio es fácil porque es en bajada (lo difícil fue devolvernos😬). A mano izquierda aprecias la vista que solo la naturaleza te puede dar, respiras aire fresco y puro, y la brisa te acompaña en todo momento. No hay señal, no hay civilización muy cerca, es un momento para desconectarse de la sociedad y disfrutar del lugar, del momento, de la vida.

Después de varios minutos comenzamos a escuchar el sonido lejano de agua corriendo, y después de pasar la montaña, llegamos al mirador. Y vi, por primera vez, la Cascada del Vino a lo lejos. La emoción que sentí fue profunda, había estado manifestando ese momento desde hace un año, y finalmente estaba allí 🤍

When you go all the way down you reach a last trail, surrounded by trees, which hides the view for a moment; and at the end, the trail opens up to a beautiful green landscape, which at that moment was full of tents and many people. That unlocked another goal in my life, camping someday.

And then, on the right-hand side, you will find the main feature. The imposing waterfall, known as the small Angel Falls of Lara State. It is impressive, and I still don't understand where so much water comes from. It is simply wonderful to stand on the side and listen to the water falling, and feel its spray on your face.

Al bajar completamente llegas a un último sendero, rodeado de árboles, que esconde la vista por un momento; y al final, el camino se abre hacia un hermoso paisaje verde, que en ese momento estaba lleno de carpas y mucha gente. Eso desbloqueó otra meta en mi vida, acampar algún día.

Y luego, a mano derecha, se encuentra la principal función. La imponente cascada, conocida como el pequeño Salto Ángel del Estado Lara. Es impresionante, y de verdad aún sigo sin comprender de donde aparece tanta agua. Es simplemente maravilloso quedarte a un lado y escuchar el agua caer, y sentir su rocío en tu rostro.

If you don't already know, this waterfall owes its name to its reddish orange waters, or vinotint when there is a strong sun, due to the chemicals found in the leaves and rocks of the place. It was a cloudy day, so I could not fully appreciate the color of its waters, but I am pleased with what I found. But, be warned, the water temperature is very cold, so take precautions. I had no intention of going into the well, so for this occasion I settled for just putting my feet and hands in the water.

Si aún no lo sabes, esta cascada debe su nombre a sus aguas de color naranja rojizo, o vinotinto cuando hay un fuerte sol, debido a las sustancias químicas que se encuentran en las hojas y rocas del lugar. Era un día nublado, así que no pude apreciar completamente el color de sus aguas, pero me siento complacida con lo que me encontré. Pero, aviso, la temperatura del agua es muy fría, así que tomen precauciones. No iba con intenciones de entrar al pozo, así que por esta ocasión me conformé con solo meter mis pies y manos al agua.

As I mentioned, it was a cloudy day which ruined our plans for a picnic. Within an hour after we arrived a heavy rain started. But I'm not complaining, I find it magical to see rain in these places, it's just part of nature. Besides, thanks to this rain the whole group of the trip gathered in the same place, and we shared a nice moment, which at the end of the day is one of the best things about these trips, meeting new people and creating memories together.

After a while the rain stopped, enough to have lunch in peace. The instructions at the park entrance state that alcoholic drinks are not allowed, so don't bring anything like that, and enjoy a good juice and delicious food. I prepared a cold tuna salad (here is the recipe), and it was ideal for the moment.

Como mencioné, era un día nublado que arruinó nuestros planes de hacer un picnic. A la hora de haber llegado comenzó una fuerte lluvia. Pero no me quejo, me parece mágico ver llover en estos lugares, es solo parte de la naturaleza. Además, gracias a esta lluvia todo el grupo del viaje se reunió en el mismo sitio, y compartimos un agradable momento, que al final del día es una de las mejores cosas de estos viajes, conocer nuevas personas y crear recuerdos juntos.

Al poco tiempo cesó la lluvia, lo suficiente para almorzar tranquilos. En las instrucciones de la entrada del parque está prohibido el consumo de bebidas alcohólicas, así que no lleven nada por el estilo, y mejor disfruten de un buen jugo y comida deliciosa. Yo preparé una ensalada fría de atún (aquí te dejo la receta), y fue ideal para el momento.

At 3 pm, the guide gathered us all together to start saying goodbye to the park, and start our way back, sadly. There is a cafe in the area, we had another coffee, because we needed energy to climb up to the entrance of the park. At that time there was too much breeze, and that helped to motivate us because there was a cool vibe that helps you. Or, you can do what my grandmother did, and ask for the tail to a motorbike🤭

And so we said goodbye to this beautiful place, to the horses walking free, to the freedom that being in nature gives you🍃

A las 3 pm el guía nos reunió a todos para comenzar a despedirnos del parque, y comenzar nuestro camino de regreso, tristemente. Hay un cafetín en la zona, nos tomamos otro cafecito, porque necesitábamos energías para subir hasta la entrada del parque. En ese momento había demasiada brisa, y eso ayudó a motivarnos porque había una vibra fresca que te ayuda. O, puedes hacer lo que hizo mi abuela, y pedir la cola a una moto🤭

Y así le dijimos adiós a este hermoso lugar, a los caballos que pasean libres, a la libertad que te da estar en la naturaleza🍃
