"Stovetoptimism" - A Poem

Jump from the fire
To the waiting frying pan
Still not fine
With where I am
But
You know what?
It could be
So much
Worse
And
You know what?
It’s actually
Not that bad
By far
This is not
The worst time
I’ve ever had
With a bit of
Elbow grease and luck
I might not have to stay stuck
On the top of this lit stove
Feeling the heat
Searing my toes

The idea for this poem came to me a little indirectly when I was watching an episode of Star Trek DS9 recently (I'll go into details here if anyone asks but it's also cool if nobody does ). On the topic of gratitude as a powerful force for personal change (and several other cool tips), I'd recommend "The Upward Spiral" by Alex Korb. That was actually the first time I was presented with a good reason for why gratitude shouldn't be comparative. If you read it you'll see what I mean.

Peace ☮️.
