The Road to 500 - A Personal Engagement Challenge!

Cópia de hustlers.png

Hello everyone!

It's always tricky for me to attend the CryptoManiacs podcasts live since most of the shows are during work so I tend to catch up on some of the episodes during the weekend.

BUT when it comes to @taskmaster4450 in rant mode, those I try not to miss and listen to them asap!

It is really frustrating and demotivating to listen to these kinds of rants. No matter how hard we try, it seems people are numb and nothing affects them...

The opportunities are right in front of your noses, you just need to sleeve up and catch them!

But it also kicked me, especially when my name is mentioned in the middle of the rant...

How can we ask people to do something, if we don't lead by example?

So this is my way to tell Task that someone is listening and will take action!

I'm throwing a personal engagement challenge called...(@jongolson will feel some nostalgia I hope!)

The Road to 500!

If you want to make a stand here on Hive, if you want to get some recognition, make at least 500 comments and check the results! This is more and less what Task always says, "come talk to me when you reach 500 comments"!

For the next 30 days starting today, I'll be pushing myself for those 500 comments!

500 comments divided in 30 days it's about 17 comments a day, so that's my daily goal!

For now, I only have one rule:

  • Has to be meaningful quality comments with a minimum of 25 words - to avoid the "nice post thanks for sharing" silly and empty comments. Tipping commands don't count as a word of course!

Good thing I have some handy tools at my disposal:

  • LeoThreads
  • Replying every comment from my posts
  • Posts shared on ListNerds
  • Ecency when I'm away from the PC
  • PeakD's followers/favorites feed so I don't miss my go-to authors, though going exploring to follow and meet new people is a plus!

I'm kind of falling behind already lolol since the first day is ending in my time-zone, but once I have this ball rolling it will turn into a great habit!

Feel free to join the challenge with me ;)

Here's my HiveBuzz screen-shot of the day:

screenshot-hivebuzz.me-2022.09.13-00_47_31.png

Since last time, I got:

+9 Posts
+16 Comments
= Average Upvotes per Post
+72 Author Rewards
+6 Curation Rewards

Here's my latest HiveStats:

screenshot-hivestats.io-2022.09.13-00_47_11.png

I'm still not sure which platform has more accurate stats for Author and Curation rewards but I guess I'll go for Hivestats data starting next week, as well as other data that I'll be adding!

This Road to 500 challenge has already some results as I checked a similar post from @mypathtofire and I will stir this post and add a few other data to track my growth!

I will still be using HiveBuzz and HiveStats so maybe next week I will have something fancier like another table or so with the numbers!

Until then, here are a few numbers I'm going to start to track:

Hive-Engine Rewards - 6.32 HIVE
HiveBuzz Overall Rank - 1513
Hive Reputation - 71.36
Hive Followers - 558

I also bought a new NFT for Peace Badge!

This week's city was Chernobyl!

Last but not least, here are David's savings:

And that's about it for today!

This Road to 500 challange from Task seems like a worthy (and doable) goal to strive for. I like thae fact that you mentioned writing thoughtful comments as well, as those are the best kind to write.

I don't know if I can hit that due to my schedule, but it will be fun trying. 17 a day sounds like a lot, but once you get into a groove, you'll be there in no time. Good luck! :)

That's why it is a challenge :) comment for the sake of commenting is very common, unfortunately, to a point to just comment with tipping commands! Unless you are in a hurry and you forgot to tip or whatever 🤣 as long as it doesn't turn into a bad habit!

Thank you for considering joining the adventure!
We got this ;)

That's a great challenge. I still remember seeing Task engaging so much in the past and thought, I will never be able to do that. But after some perseverance it is possible. Sometimes I spend more time engaging and forget to write my posts. 😅

I really like to track the reputation stat because I've noticed the time it takes to increase is now so much longer and it feels great when it does go up.

You sir engage a lot, I always see you in the comments every post I look 🤣

When I schedule my posts and topics weekly I try to have a day or two free and only dedicate to commenting.

That was my thinking, keeping track of these numbers especially now with the challenge, it will help me to check on the results in 30 days!

Let's see how it goes 😉

It is. I turned it off.

Glad you felt inspired 😍.

Thank you!
Oh I like listen to rants for sure don't get me wrong and will listen until the end, it's more of the people that don't get inspired by them..
it's much easier to turn off and go watch something else, especially when we ask to do something, it's simply too much work for some and it's much better to complain why they don't have results.

So I will keep listening and rant as well if I must, because we are stubborn!

It's thanks to the stubbornness that some of us are here 😁

I prefer to surround myself with people that are making their way, rather than focussing on people who are complaining. An old leader, in the time when social media was just starting, said to me, "don't waste your time with people that don't get it."

it's much easier to turn off and go watch something else

I turn it off because I don't want that behaviour around me and it grieves me to see it perpetuated on Hive. It's sad that we fall into that way of behaving as a means of trying to bring about change. People have to put up with so much of that in so many places in their lives and now we're modelling it on Hive and thinking it's funny and to be lauded and welcomed.

People will find it hard to take responsibility for themselves: in the UK, for example, the whole of their schooling is about compliance and employment is not much different either for the majority of people. If this has been people's whole lives and reality and norms, and they are trying to survive in that environment, why are we suddenly expecting them to be different?

And if we want to change things, why are we using old-fashioned legacy authoritarian approaches to address it? Doesn't this just perpetuate the very thing we are trying to change - people being told what to do by other people - and compounding it by having a blue fit in the process.

The "new school" doesn't respond to the "old school" methodologies, imo. The only real thing that can be done is to continue to lead by example and trust others will follow. Everyone needs their own time for realization, and if anything, all ranting does is delay or prohibit that organic process. IMHO.

The 500 comment challenge is a good way for people to get started and I just watched the re-run of that cryptomanaics. You were talked about as an example to follow.

And as an example to follow I need to push myself and keep inspiring others, at least I hope so!

I've been slacking, having fatigue for having a tiring day job plus stay up at night for Hive plus motherhood is real and I may not reach your level of engagement, but I will "die trying" 🤣

17 comments a day is a hard goal especially when one strives to actually read the posts they comment on and give useful and meaningful feedback, nice challenge Eliana!

Great post and congrats on getting a decentralized curation vote!

It is a challenge for sure and I'm already falling behind on my second day 🤣
But I knew beforehand that it would be tricky for me, especially with a million things that I want to do at the same time!

But besides creating content, engaging with other people is important if you want to stand out from the crowd and let people know your name!

That's how we grow :) I got this 💪

Thank you!
