Quiero contarles de mi visita al Centro de Artes Lía Bermudez.
En nuestro viaje a Maracaibo visitamos varios lugares que yo no conocía y apreciamos con ojos de turistas las bellezas que tiene esta Ciudad.
A veces no apreciamos la belleza del lugar donde vivimos porque estamos acostumbrados a verlo y nos parece muy común.

I want to tell you about my visit to the Centro de Artes Lía Bermudez.
On our trip to Maracaibo we visited several places that I did not know and we appreciated with the eyes of tourists the beauties that this city has.
Sometimes we do not appreciate the beauty of the place where we live because we are used to seeing it and it seems very common.
Nunca había visitado este Centro de Artes, Estefania si así que ella me servía de Guía Turística. Siendo sincera ni siquiera conocía el personaje que era Lia Bermudez.
Decidí investigar y orientarme acerca de esta artista para poder entender por qué tiene un Centro Artístico con su nombre, que trabajos realizó y que aportó al mundo del Arte en mi ciudad.
Es bastante curiosa una obra que está en la entrada, se llama ''Penetrable'' y se compone de una especie de hilos que caen del techo y que la gente puede atravesar y esta es realmente la experiencia que brinda esta obra de Jesus Soto, caminar entre estos ''hilos''.
Les estaré contando muy brevemente la historia de Lia mientras les enseño sus obras y lo que aun se conserva en este Centro/Museo.
I had never visited this Arts Center, Estefania had, so she served as my Tour Guide. To be honest I did not even know the character that was Lia Bermudez.
I decided to investigate and orient myself about this artist to be able to understand why she has an Art Center with her name, what works she did and what she contributed to the world of Art in my city.
It is quite curious a work that is at the entrance, is called ''Penetrable'' and is composed of a kind of threads that fall from the ceiling and that people can walk through and this is really the experience that provides this work of Jesus Soto, walk between these ''threads''.
I will be telling you very briefly the story of Lia while I show you her works and what is still preserved in this Center/Museum.
¿Quién fue Lia Bermudez?
Su verdadero nombre era Carmen Gonzalez, nació en la Ciudad de Caracas el 4 de agosto de 1930. Fue una de las tres escultoras mas importantes del país. Después de contraer matrimonio a los 17 años, se mudó a la Ciudad de Maracaibo. Allí completó sus estudios y se desempeñó como profesora de Artes plasticas en la Universidad del Zulia.
Lía realizaba obras de neoplasticismo y constructivismo tanto planas como tridimensionales y su material fundamental era el hierro y el cobre.
Who was Lia Bermudez?
Her real name was Carmen Gonzalez, she was born in the city of Caracas on August 4, 1930. She was one of the three most important sculptors in the country. After marrying at the age of 17, she moved to the city of Maracaibo. There she completed her studies and worked as a professor of Plastic Arts at the University of Zulia.
Lía made works of neoplasticism and constructivism, both flat and three-dimensional, and her main materials were iron and copper.

En el Centro de artes conservan muchas obras de esta Ilustre escultora, noticias, momentos importantes y reconocimientos.
Pero no solo está repleto de sus obras, sino que también incluyeron de otros artistas Venezolanos que fueron piezas fundamentales en la creación de este Centro.
Esas obras se las compartiré en otro post.
Conocer este lugar me pareció una experiencia bastante agradable y diferente, me encanta conocer nuevos lugares y más si tratan de arte y cultura. Descubrir la historia artística que acompaña a mi país y mi ciudad es muy importante y a veces hasta sorprendente.

In the Center of Arts they keep many works of this illustrious sculptor, news, important moments and recognitions.
But it is not only full of her works, but also included other Venezuelan artists who were fundamental pieces in the creation of this Center.
I will share those works in another post.
Visiting this place was a very nice and different experience, I love to know new places and more if they deal with art and culture. Discovering the artistic history that accompanies my country and my city is very important and sometimes even surprising.
