A few days ago, I took a short trip around the city, remembering how nice it is to pedal and rediscover those beautiful places in your city. I was invited to join this community of bike lovers or simply those who admire a good bike or its history.

My current bike is a bit old; if I remember correctly, I bought it over 10 years ago used, and I don't know how long its previous owner had it. I had to gradually buy replacement parts because it was in bad mechanical condition. I bought the rims, tires, gears, and a few other things.

Later, when I was in college, I had to leave it at my parents' house, and my dad did some maintenance on it and used it for a couple of years. Then my sister and brother-in-law used it until about 2 years ago when it came back into my possession.

Before going out on Sunday for the ride I mentioned, I noticed that my rear tire was flat. I didn't want to patch it, so I went to get a new inner tube that I had stored. The change was pretty quick, although it's not a job that you do every day.

Since it's an old bike, I still have iron rims on it. I've wanted to change them for aluminum ones, but they're much more expensive here in my country. One thing I've noticed with my friends' newer bikes is that they are much lighter, and of course, my frame is iron while the newer ones are aluminum or carbon (if I'm not mistaken).

One change I want to make to my two-wheeled vehicle is to switch from conventional brakes to disc brakes. We'll see what happens in the future.

Thank you very much for the invitation to this community. I hope to share my adventures with you and gradually improve the one I have now.

Hello and welcome to the community.
How nice you still have your 'old' bicycle.
I've seen way older bicycles that yours on here by the way.

You are right about the extra weight. But the advantage of a full carbon frame isn't that big. It often weighs 'just' a kilo or two lighter. It's cheaper to invest in a diet and lose those kilos yourself.

There are some more people that like to do bicycle maintenance themselves, so keep an eye on this community.

Thanks for sharing your story.

hello, thank you very much for the welcome.

The truth is that if I'm rusty with the maintenance of the bike, I'll have to take a ride often.

A big hug in the distance.

one question, do you accept videos here, your own of course?
