British rock band that gained widespread popularity from the mid-1970s to the 1980s. The impressive dynamism of their performances and the fusion of jazz, symphonic and operatic tendencies with rock were the key to their success, and their albums continued remaining bestsellers even after his death. by singer Freddie Mercury in 1991. Formed in 1970, the band consisted of Freddie Mercury (vocals), Brian May (guitar), Roger Taylor (drums) and John Deacon (bass).

Queen's origins date back to the early 1960s, when young guitarist Brian Harold May (b. 1947) began playing in a semi-professional band called In in 1984. No stranger to several string instruments, May even built his own guitar, later called mayo. Yes. Brian May later became a member of another group called Smile, which released a single. Unexpectedly, Smile frontman Tim Staffel left the band. To find his place, the members of Smile decided to audition the lead singer of the band Sour Milk Sea with Freddie Mercury, and he quickly passed.

Freddie Mercury was used to appearing in public or on stage wearing pretty, daring clothes. Freddie had a great voice and extensive knowledge of the piano. He was accompanied by the characteristic rhythmic accompaniment of John Richard Deacon (b. 1951) on bass and Roger Meadows Taylor (b. 1949) on drums. It was Mercury who felt the need to restore the rest, starting with the name change. The Queen was therefore born in 1970. The group began recording demos and the record label EMI became interested in them after they played at the Marquee concert in London. In early 1973, Queen closed London's Trident Studios for the first time under the direction of Roy Thomas Baker, and "Queen I" first introduced the aggressive rock that has been their signature sound ever since. In control. For the group. In early 1974, Queen II saw evolution and full maturity.

Mercury's death marked the end of bassist John Deacon's retirement in 1997, but it was not Queen's last. In 2002, Brian May and Roger Taylor planned the musical We Will Rock You to bring the group's best-known songs to stages around the world. Meanwhile, May announced in December 2004 that the band would embark on a world tour in 2005, and Freddie Mercury was replaced by former Bad Company singer Paul Rogers (other names such as George Michael had previously been considered).

Although its success was relevant, the new organization known as Paul Rogers Queens was short-lived. The collaboration with Paul Rogers ended in 2009. This did not mean the end of Queen. In 2011, survivors Brian May and Roger Taylor formed Queen Adam Lambert with American singer Adam Lambert, and the group is still active.
