A Coffee at the Country Park ... sort of

A little bit overcast this morning as we visited Holmebrook Valley Country Park. It was intended to be just a dog walk around the lake, but even though it was Easter Sunday, we were pleasantly surprised that the café in the pavilion building was open.

There was a lot of activity going on with people playing boules and a local park run so I suppose it was good business sense for the café to open its doors but it turns out it's usually open seven days a week.

There was a colourful mosaic on the café wall outside that was commissioned by Friends of Holmebrook Country Park with a grant from the local council. It was designed by a local art group and youngsters from a local school.

There was a nice array of cakes at very reasonable prices but I wasn't tempted. I'm trying to be good.

There was an Easter theme going on inside. I need one of these tableclothes in my life. 🙂

Unfortunately, we weren't allowed to sit inside with the dog. As it had brightened up a little, we sat outside, trying to keep the pooch off the table.

We didn't quite manage it at times!

They didn't do fancy coffee so we had to make do with filtered coffee. My americano tasted like weasel piss. Not that I've ever drunk weasel piss but this is how I imagined it to taste like. I think my friend with a cappuccino fared a bit better. Anyway, it was hot and wet and that's all the compliments I can offer. At least it was cheap and cheerful.
