A Tootle Around the Countryside

We had some lovely blue sky today, so we had a drive around with no particular place to visit in mind. We found ourselves in a small hamlet called Ible.

My first impression was that it stunk of cow muck! Apart from a couple of farms there wasn't a great deal to see. Although, we did see a nice row of old troughs that were full of water from the local spring. They date back to when horses and ponies that pulled coaches and wagons stopped to have a drink. Source

There was also a few old stoned buildings on the side of the road. Moving on, we drove through the village of Carsington.

We stopped to look at the interesting looking dovecote, which houses pigeons and doves. Unfortunately, we didn't see any doves.

On our way back near Longcliffe we stopped to take a few photos of the lovely blue sky. Of course, as soon as you go to take a photo, the sun goes in! Patience is a virtue ....

I really like stone walls as they are home to lots of snails, insects etc.

Even though we didn’t have too much of a plan when we set off, it was still an enjoyable ride out.

Wonderful pics! There's always a feeling of awe when contemplating the clear and lovely blue sky especially from an open landscape.
