A Village Walk and a Close Encounter with the Bogey Man

There was only a few remnants of snow left. It was a nice morning so I decided to have a little walk starting off in my village wood.

A few years ago, we put wooden Christmas baubles on this tree. We thought it would look nice for people walking past. Unfortunately, all it did was flag it up to the local yobbos. The next time we visited, the decorations had been strewn across the floor, and the tree had been virtually bent over. We managed to get the tree upright again by lodging a piece of wood at its base to hold it back up. Thankfully, it survived and has grown quite a bit. It looked quite healthy.

Pareidolia is a psychological phenomenon causing people to see patterns/shapes and faces in random objects. Every time I approach the edge of the wood, I always think this tree looks like a bogey man. I'm always glad it's day time. Can you see it? Or is it just me?

Once I got to the outskirts of the wood, I walked down the field. You can see for miles into the distance. Nobody else was about.

There hasn't been a lot of fungi in this particular wood in the past year. I spotted more today as we've had wet conditions that the fungi thrive off.

Walking down to the village lido, the Canada geese were chilling out on the side.

Unfortunately, the two swans came over to shoo them off. They don't usually bother with each other unless food is about or it's approaching spring when it's mating time, then the swans want the lake to themselves.
