A Walk Down the Railway Lines to the Park

We started our walk down the side of the railway lines today. It was another lovely day and the sun was out. The weather forecast is even warmer over the weekend which is good news. Time to get out! The track is used by both walkers and cyclists. It is a nice scenic walk and goes straight through to Whitworth Park.

I like seeing the wild flowers. We used to see lovely meadows when we were young. I don't see many these days as everything gets mowed down.

The smell of the white flowers of the hawthorn bush was really nice. They gave off a light scenty aroma.

You can just make out the yellow dandelions in the field. Once the flower has died off, it is replaced by dandelion seeds that look like a downy head. As children, we used to tell the time by blowing the downy seeds off the dandelion plant. On the first blow, we'd say, “one o'clock.” We'd blow again and say, “two o'clock," and so forth until all the down had gone, giving you the correct time. We believed anything in those days.

I think the farmer was fibbing. We couldn't see any sheep at all unless they were all wearing their cloaks of invisibility! 😀

We finished our walk in the park. I'm pleased to say, the goslings are still doing good.
