A Walk on the High Peak Trail

It was a lovely, sunny day with a little bit of a nip in the air. We decided to go for a walk on the High Peak Trail in my home county. The trail has some lovely views of the countryside between Middleton Top and Parsley Hay.

The trail is also used by cyclists and horse riders. The route is on the old railway beds of the former Cromford and High Peak Railway, so it's not too bad underfoot.

It was a nice tree lined walk in parts, but sadly, lots of Ash trees had been cut down due to ‘Ash die back’, which is a fungal disease.

There seems to be quite a lot about in the county. It's always sad when they have to cut down trees, but hopefully, they will replace them with young, healthy trees.

One of the nicest things walking in Spring time is the wild flowers that you see. It won't be long before the bluebells are out.

At the end, there was a welcome cafe where we stopped for a bite to eat before we made our way back.
