A Weekend Walk around Bottom Moor in Derbyshire

With a name like Bottom Moor you have to go and investigate! The wood is full of mature conifers and silver birch trees, surrounded by open land.

Over the weekend, there was a biting wind, especially out in the wood but we got wrapped up and off we went. The dogs enjoyed themselves, although they kept an eye on where we were. They get a bit nervous if they don't recognise the area.

The actual wood is quite dense and looked very difficult to walk through, unless you want to fight through all the bracken. With this in mind, we decided to stick to the footpath to do a circular walk.

We spotted quite a lot of fungi. There's been a lot of tree felling on one part of our walk. I think they're getting rid of some diseased trees and replanting others. There's lots of wet dead wood about the place. Fungi seems to thrive on it.

It was a nice easy, flat walk. I must return when Jack Frost is about and try and get into the heart of the wood.

It looks like the doggos are having fun, that's for sure. I like the look of that track in the top image...Sort of leads off to nowhere, just the sort of track I like. :)

Me too! Out of the three paths that we could have taken, this was the most inviting. 🙂
