Birds of a Feather

It's very hot at the moment so it is best to go out for a walk in the morning, as it's slightly cooler. This morning, we spotted a little pied wagtail feeding its young on the wall. It is appropriately named as its tail never stops wagging!

We also spotted a little reed warbler in the reedbeds. They are quite unremarkable little birds, but I think they still look quite nice, and this one was singing away in the reeds.

A few Canada Geese and a tufted duck enjoying the sunshine.

A wood pigeon found something to eat. The other was looking on. I thought there's going to be trouble ahead ....

Sure enough, a bit of a scuffle broke out, fighting over the biscuit.

Both male and female coots will take it in turns to sit on their eggs for about 3 to 4 weeks until they hatch.

We think these may be goose eggs that were infertile.

We didn't stay out too long as the heat was quite draining, but it was an interesting little jaunt.

The wagtail feeding the young is spot on. 🙂
I like the warblers, they are cute and sing well.

I always think the warblers are difficult to spot as I think they're sparrows.

Me too 😄
Warblers, whitethroat, flycatchers, they all look so alike. I have problems with my eyes and from a distance I can't recognize them.
