Coffees in the Refreshment Room on the Old Railway Line

It was quite mild today, so it was perfect walking conditions to have a leisurely walk on the Monsal Trail in Derbyshire. The trail is a disused railway line and is now accessible for walkers, cyclists and parents with buggies.

After about an hours walk we stopped off at the Refreshment Room which is operated by the Blueberry Cafe.

The cafe is situated in an old railway building at Miller's Dale Station on the trail.

We popped into the cafe for a drink initially. Of course, the black Americano was served with a little jug of milk. Why do cafes insist on giving me milk when all I want is a black Americano?! Grrrh!! Anyway, my brother had a straight forward latte.

I like the old factory stools but I think these were reproductions, but they still looked really cool.

I enjoyed the additional bicuit. Who doesn't like a free biscuit?

What do they say? Don't cry over spilt milk?!

As well as coffees and local teas they served home made food. Takeaway food is also available and all their containers are recyclable, which is impressive. After our drinks, we decided to stay for something to eat so we ordered a vegetarian hot dog and a proper meat hotdog, with salad and coleslaw. It was yummy!

It's nice that the cafe was dog friendly. She was quite happy to pose for photographs.

The staff were knowledgeable about the area so they are always good for advice and information. It was a good end to a nice, flat walk!

Hello @ellenripley,
Happy 2022!
That first photo, is so simple but it's a great combination of nature with the cyclists included. It tells a full story.
That's another great find of a café, and I like the stools very much too. They compliment the area nicely.

Such an inclusive cafe; even the welcome/menu board says "Dogs and Muddy boots welcome."
How could one not pop in after reading that:) I'm glad you did because that was a super cute dog.
Coffee looks nice, and yes, it's a shame for them to waste milk by serving it when you already stated black.

Best wishes for the new year!:)

I have an ongoing battle with the milk issue. I'm beginning to wonder what they think I'm going to do with it. 🙂

All the best to you as well and keep warm!

Very start to the day! Lovely coffee shop with a nice dog model! You should be a guide for walks in the countryside!

I have no sense of direction. They'd have to send the search dogs out for me!

A pet friendly cafe is always a great cafe spot! Yup, there is no point in crying over spilled milk

If they are dog friendly, I always think it says a lot about the cafe owner. 🙂

Hahaha that only happens to me in the uk. They don’t believe you really want to drink it without milk 😂

I'm glad it's not just me. I bet if I asked for a black Americano with a jug of milk, they'd forget the milk! 😁
