Our Visit to Buxton, Derbyshire, UK

We visited Buxton, which is less than an hours drive from me. It is a spa town in the High Peak, Derbyshire, UK. In 78 AD, the Romans came to Buxton and named it Aquae Arnemetiae. Since then, it has been known for the healing powers of its spa waters. Buxton Mineral Water is still bottled and sold here and overseas. Source

The Crescent is a Grade I listed, Georgian building. It is quite iconic and is one of the first purpose built hotels in this country. Source

Spring water comes from the ground and everyone can take a free drink from the St Ann’s Well found near to the Crescent. A chap was filling a bottle up when we were there.

The majestic Buxton OperIn 78 AD, the Romans came to Buxton and named it Aquae Arnemetiae. Since then, it has beena House is an Edwardian Theatre that first opened its doors in 1903 and is still hosting events to this day. Source

It started to rain, so the umbrellas came out. I wondered who was behind this one?

It wasn't Gene Kelly, it was the nice smiley face man!

We popped into the Pavilion Gardens which, date back to 1871. There are 23 acres of beautiful landscaped gardens to explore. They hold lots of events here throughout the year. Source

In the Botanical Conservatory, you will find rare plants and lots of fish.

Near the gardens, there is the Springs Shopping Centre, which is the main shopping street in the town.

There's also lots of cafes to choose from including the Dandelion Cafe for good coffee and treats.

Buxton is always worth a visit. There's lot to see from its impressive historical architecture, lovely gardens, theatre, and annual festivals. Pity it rained.

Wow! Such an interesting place and such a nice town. This reminds me of Bath Spa. Should visit this lovely town one day!

Love the character of the town and seems like people are friendly. I think Roman architecture caught my eye and the character of Roman architecture always fascinates me. I always prefer to explore small towns and probably one day I will be able to live there.

I'm more of a country bumpkin but I still like visiting towns and cities.
