Rabbits, Canal Bridges, and Woodland Tunnels

This morning I set off to explore part of a woodland I had never visited before. After the recent spell of hot weather, it was good to wake to overcast skies.

Hot weather tires me out after a while. The air felt nice and cool, making it much easier to walk in.

I liked the green foliage next to the old brickwork. It was an interesting mix of nature and the built environment.

Not long after entering the wood, a rabbit was quietly enjoying its breakfast in a clearing. We made each other jump, and I expected it to run off, but it decided to carry on munching.

Along a hedgerow bordering the footpath, a coal tit flitted amongst the stems and leaves. I watched it carefully as it picked at seeds hidden amongst the foliage. I was surprised I managed to get so close to it, but it didn't seem too bothered by my presence.

There was a slight rain shower but it quickly passed.

As I walked deeper into the wood, the trees formed lovely natural arches over the path. Their branches entwined with each other overhead, creating green tunnels.

There's no better smell than honeysuckle. It smelt really lovely and sweet.

Sadly, there was one disappointing sight. Near the children's play area, several pieces of graffiti had been sprayed onto equipment. It reminded me of the bad side of human behaviour.

Part of my walk took me along the canal towpath. It was a pretty stretch to follow. As I walked, I passed beneath several old bridges that crossed over the canal. The towpath was fairly quiet, with only a few people out enjoying the morning. After a while, I reached a point where I decided to turn around and retrace my steps.

Discovering a new woodland and spotting wildlife made it an enjoyable walk, and the sun eventually turned up.

This is so captivating and blooming, I'm also a lover of nature, including the vegetation setting, waterfalls, birds, rodent scavenging for foods and lots more. @ellenripley these images are so beautiful to see. Thanks
