Red Deer Watching on the Longshaw Estate
Driving past the Longshaw Estate we saw a herd of red deer which roam freely. They are the UK's largest deer.
On the estate there are about 170 red deer in total but it's the first time I've seen them in the area.
Come September, rutting season will start where the males will compete with each other for the females.
When the stags shed their antlers I would love to find some. It's never happened yet!
They were keeping their beady eye on us. Probably getting ready to run if we got too close.
They looked really nice next to the purple heather.
