Straws Bridge: Where Nature Goes to Relax

We called in at Straw's Bridge, a lovely nature reserve that is also known locally as 'Swan Lake' for obvious reasons I expect.

It wasn't long before the swans came for some food, especially the cygnets, so we dutifully obliged.

You can just have a walk around the lake or there's other paths if you want a proper walk. We just went to feed the birds and see what was about. The little moorhen was swimming back and forth, busy collecting twigs to build its nest.

There is a group called 'Friends of Straw's Bridge' who help develop and improve the area. The car park can get quite busy so it's best to avoid weekends and bank holidays but it wasn't too bad early this morning.

There were the usual suspects on the water, swans, mallard ducks, tufted ducks, and mandarin ducks.

It's a nice little area, not a lot to do, though, unless you walk further afield. However, it's still nice to just sit on one of the benches and watch the wildlife for a while. Not forgetting the squirrel!
