Sublime Sunday - A Short Break to Llandudno, Wales

The weather so far has been really good, while visiting Llandudno in Wales. There's some lovely views of the bay and the Great Orme, which is a large limestone headland. There is a smaller headland nearby called the Little Orme.

We saw the Great Orme Tramway in the distance. It travels on the road and has been doing so since 1902. It passes through the Great Orme Country Park and the Nature Reserve to the very top of the Great Orme. Some great views but scary if you don't like heights!

We had a walk on the pier which is Wales's longest pier. You will find a few attractions and food stalls on there.

There is a pebbled beach so it's difficult underfoot. However, there is a nice walk along the beach front. It's not too far from the cafes and shops.

Clare's Department Store, is one of the first department stores in Wales. It was opened by the Baxter family in 1927.

Llandudno, was a favourite of Lewis Carrol, the author of Alice in Wonderland. Alice Liddell who inspired the book had a holiday home nearby. Allegedly, Lewis Carrol visited Llandudno so there are several statues of characters from Alice in Wonderland dotted around. This is the Mad Hatter!

The herring gulls are looking for their next victim. They have a habit of snatching food out of your hands, but so far we have remained unscathed!
