The Old Derelict Pumping Station

(Edited)

The old derelict Hunger Hill Pumping Station is in my home town, tucked away in the woods. It's easy to miss it but the two big boulders at the entrance to the footpath, is a bit of a giveaway.

We walked down the footpath leading to some great looking iron gates.

They reminded me of the old black and white Dracula and Frankenstein films I used to watch with my parents. Mmmm, that's probably why I've turned out the way I have ....

We crossed the bridge over the River Hipper.

Over the entrance to the pump house you can just make out "CCWW 1924" carved in the stone, which perhaps stands for Chesterfield Council Water Works.

The pump house is relatively small, consisting of one room, but it's still intriguing.

Inside there was a bit of graffiti art by Coloquix. One day I might get here first.

There wasn’t a lot to see apart from a few chains and pulleys.

It was also flooded inside, but it's obviously a place where people meet up with the amount of beer cans in the water.

I've heard from locals that years ago, the pumping station was used for satanic rituals. A bit of voodoo if you please. Not sure if they were just trying to scare the heebeejeebies out of me or not (to put it politely).

It was quite boggy, so wellingtons was a must. Pity the buggers leak but they looked the part.

The last time I was down here, I made the mistake of looking down the holes. One looked pretty deep, so I kept my distance this time.

I've been here before and even though it was only a little explore, there's no better place when it's foggy. I half expected a pet cemetery down there!

New to this site and comuinty just checking out some posts. Gates looks super creepy but the rest of the building was very cool. We have something similar where I live although it is not as abandoned as this

That place is fantastic - those subdued colors and green - beautiful photos as always!

There's just bricks and bits of pipe down there. I just hate getting close to them.
