Village Fun Day: Wet Sponges, Wagging Tails, Vintage Cars, and Tunes

This afternoon, I walked over the road to the park to attend the Village Fun Day.

​There was a variety of things to see and do, and thankfully, the weather was sunny from start to finish.

At the main marquee, I saw volunteers organising different activities, including raffle sales, the Dog Show registration, and the Treasure Hunt.

The day kicked off with the opening ceremony, and early in the afternoon, the crowd was treated to a performance by the Local Vocals ladies' choir.

They were followed by a dog show. I don't know which dog won the 'Best Lady' contest, but this one was my favourite.

For a donation, you got the chance to throw wet sponges at our local councillor’s face while he stood in the stocks. He was a good sport! All proceeds will go to the local school.

There were also plenty happening in the smaller marquee, as the local brass band performed throughout the day.

On display were some beautiful vintage cars, ranging from Austins, Beetles, Marlins, VW campervans, and Morris Minors, to name a few.

The event was well attended, and there was plenty to see and do. After a cup of coffee down at the cricket pavilion, which had been turned into a refreshments area, I left for the day. Overall, I enjoyed my visit to the Fun Day. It was a simple local event with a range of entertainment, stalls, and activities for everyone.
