Wednesday Walk around Chatsworth Park, Derbyshire

(Edited)

This morning, the sun was out but still chilly, as we walked through Chatsworth Park, home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. The herd of deer, spotted us, and waited for us to pass before they crossed the road.

During the week, there's not too many people about. Come the summer months, especially at weekends, the park can be packed. There's a few walks you can do in the area, but we decided to just do a loop of the park.

There was some lovely views of the estate with a nice blue sky. It looked warmer than what it was, as we are still having frost in the mornings.

We walked down over the bridge that lies over the River Derwent. Chatsworth House is nearby. You can pay to enter the house, and I've done that in my younger days, so it doesn't appeal to me now. The best thing about it is, when the house is closed to visitors, the car parks are free!

The little moorhen and robin was out and about looking for food.

We passed through the Cannon Kissing Gate. According to the sign, the gate was unveiled in 1999, by the Duke of Devonshire and Mrs Jill Cannon. Apparently, Jill was the inspiration behind the gate. It was designed to be secure and accessible to wheelchair users.

After a circular walk, we crossed back over the road and headed back to the car.
