Fairies of Rainbowland and The Missing Animals (Short Story for Kids)

Once upon a time, there lived some fairies in a fantasy garden of Rainbowland. Turning innocent animals into wooden sculptures was their favorite hobby, they turned the animal body into wooden trunks and twigs while leaving the head real. The fairies looked so beautiful from the outside, but they were so vicious and cruel from the inside.

They used to steal animals from a distant village called Bulbaria, the people of the village were very protective of their animals, because it was the only source of their bread and butter. Fairies stole all their buffaloes, now there was no milk available in Bulbaria, they did not have any milk for kids, cheese for pizza, yogurt for smoothies, cream for croissants, and butter for cakes.

Chief Fairy had a magical power to open a portal in the village, and all other worker fairies helped her catch animals with a magic lasso. This way the fairies stole almost all the animals.

The villagers were very furious about losing all their buffaloes along with many other herd animals, so their village head decided to do something to bring back the animals. He went to the village of Shamans to meat Baba Buzbuz, who was very intellectual and knew a lot about fairies.

The village head told everything to Baba Buzbuz and asked for his help to bring back the animals. Buzbuz agreed to help but he had a condition that if he brought back all the animals, the people of Bulbaria would send one-fourth of the milk products to the Shamans' village. The head agreed to his condition in return for the help, then Buzbuz and his accomplice Barbar went to Bulbaria to defeat the fairies and bring back the animals.

Buzbuz ordered villagers to bring all animal hides, filled them with husk, and made them look like real buffaloes. He and his accomplice Barbar, etched some runes on each animal hide, some kind of noxious potions were applied to the etched runes, and then they erected effigies of animals in the pasture.

It was a bright night, the full moon was throwing a silvery majestic light all over the valley. Buzbuz and Barbar had already burrowed themselves in two effigies so that they could cross the portal. Chief fairy opened the portal, worker fairies threw magic lassos on every fake buffalo and pulled them into the portal, Buzbuz and Barbar were now inside the Rainbowland.

The fairies were using blast magic on those effigies to turn them into wooden sculptures but their magic failed because they were not real animals.

Runes etched on the hides reacted to the magic, suddenly a thick smoke billowed from the hides, it was not an ordinary smoke, but was a powerful intoxicant made of deadly nightshade and destroying angel shrooms. The fumes were so powerful, that as soon as the fairies inhaled those noxious fumes, they fell unconscious on the green turf, their wands scattered all over the garden.

Chief fairy was a little far from the effigies, and realizing the situation, she used her wand to summon a water bubble, she concealed herself inside the bubble immediately and protected herself from inhaling the rancid smoke.

Baba Buzbuz observed the situation, he saw that all fairies were fallen flat and drooling on the ground, but the Chief fairy had concealed herself in a protective bubble. He thought if they showed up, she could break the bubble and run away.

It was the time for Buzbuz's wisdom to shine, he whistled a few times, it was a signal for Barbar to stott like a gazelle to draw the attention of Chief fairy. Barbar started stotting, it worked Chief fairy thought that the animal had been running away, she came close to the effigy and popped the bubble so that she could use her wand, meanwhile Buzbuz tore the effigy hide, and crawled towards Chief, she had drawn the wand up intending to throw a fireball to Barbar, who was still stotting, Baba Buzbuz had approached her from behind, he roared "gelantur et cadunt" (freeze and fall), and as she turned toward Buzbuz, he had already thrown a freezing potion on her, she turned into a crystalline form and fell on a rock.

Chief fairy fell so hard on the rock that she broke into several tiny pieces, but her wand remained intact because it was made from a fire dragon's tail. Barbar came out of the effigy and started collecting wands, then he woke up one of the fairies and drank her the potion of truth, then asked her to tell them how to turn wooden sculptures back into real animals and open the portal back to the village, she told them to use the wand and say "ad animalia, ad vitam" to bring the animals back to their real form, and use "Aperi castellum" to open the portal to the village.

They tied the fairy with the magical lasso and turned all animals back to their real form. Buzbuz opened the portal and sent Barbar to the other side of the portal to gather the village head and his people. As soon as the help arrived, they used magic lassos and evacuated all animals smoothly.

Buzbuz burned all other wands, then he released the fairy, and gave her a pouch of soothing dust to bring back the consciousness of all faint fairies.

He came out of Rainbowland and uttered "clausa in aeternum", the portal is closed forever.

The next day the village head arranged a festival to celebrate the victory, and all the villagers rejoiced in the return of buffaloes and other animals.

The village head crowned Buzbuz with a shamanic headdress and Barbar was given a ceremonial mask. Some people tried to gift them jewelry, but they refused, Buzbuz said that he only needed the share of milk products, which they agreed on.

People of Bulbaria held to their agreement firm and strong, they kept sending one-fourth of the milk products to the Shamans village and lived happily ever after consuming healthy dairy products.
