AN AFRICAN NIGHT ENTERTAINMENT PART 1

The kingdom of ogoni was a wealthy and prosperous land which was filled with beautiful women but of all the women the most beautiful was a girl named omalicha which means beautiful girl.

Omalicha was a very beautiful young woman, she was dark, tall and had curves at the right places in fact she was so beautiful that people said she was a either the daughter of a powerful god or the wife of an underwater king which turned out to be false.

She was the only child of parents which they got after so many years of praying and sacrificing to the gods, so she was spoilt and pampered.

Men flocked around her occasionally both the young and old, the rich and poor,
the ugly and handsome men in her village proposed to her daily but she turned them down by saying

" I am too beautiful for all of you, the man that would marry me must be the most richest, handsomest, and popular man in the entire world, even God himself would have to beg me to marry him".

Omalicha was filled with pride which made her arrogant and disrespectful, she was always rude to people including her own parents.

Whenever her mother wanted to send to send her on an errand she would shun her mother by saying

" How dare you send me on such an errand, as beautiful as i am, I am not meant to be seen doing petty things like that"

Her parents couldn't do anything about it because she was their only child and they hated to see her upset.

She was hated throughout the kingdom due to her pride and arrogance, she had no friends because she believed that no one was up to her level throughout the village.

One day the prince of the kingdom decided to try his luck despite the warnings from his parents

" That girl will embarrass you my son, there are many young and beautiful girls in this village you can choose from" the king said.

" Your father is right my son, she is a rude and arrogant girl please don't waste your time" the queen said.

" My mind is made up, I love her and I wish to make her my wife, it's true that she is rude and arrogant but i will try my luck after all i am the prince and no lady can resist me.

Seeing that his mind was made up, they gave him their blessings which made him Happy.

On the the d-day, the prince who was escorted by his father, mother and some elders went to ask for her hand in marriage.

When they got there the king went straight to the point and made their intentions clear to omalicha's parents.

Omalicha who had been listening to their conversations from where she was hiding rushed out and shouted

"How dare you come to my house to ask for my hand in marriage, do you think you have a chance with me, you are nothing but an ugly, poor and useless prince, as beautiful as i am do you think I would stoop so low for a puppet like you?!!!!!!!" She shouted on top of her voice.

The prince was devastated, no one had ever spoken to him in such a way, he could not control his tears he went like a baby in front of everyone his parents had to drag him out, omalicha's parents shaked their heads in sadness.

Unknown to omalicha she had caught the attention of a ruthless and powerful god who intended to teach her lesson which was his main job.

The god whose name was kuga had the ability to transform himself into a normal human, so he transformed himself into a tall rich looking handsome young man who could sweep any lady off her feet.

He came to earth and without wasting time proceeded to omalicha's home. People stared at him in awe, ladies wished he would notice them but he did not stop for anything or anyone he had only one mission in mind which he wanted to carry out without Mercy.

When he got to his destination, he saw omalicha outside sitting all by herself, he went to her and told her he would like to marry her.

Like someone who was under a hypnotic spell, omalicha stood up and followed the young man back to his home, she was automatically his wife, unluckily her parents were not around to stop her.

People who saw them walking together were shocked

"So the stubborn she goat has later yielded" someone said.

They continued journeying until they got to a thick forest which was out of bounds for normal human beings, omalicha immediately regained her senses, she was surprised and angry.

" How did i get here? She asked him

" I brought you here to teach you a lesson and make an example out of you" kuga answered

"who are you and how dare you bring me here, as beautiful as i am you had the guts to bring me to this ugly place" omalicha said with confidence.

Kuga couldn't take it anymore and before omalicha could say another word he transformed into his beastly self and took her away never to be seen again.

That was the end of omalicha, her parents waited and waited for her to return but that wasn't going to be possible so they had to move on with their lives with the pain of loosing their only child.

"So my children that is the end of the story, I hope you enjoyed the story" the old woman who had been narrating the story asked the children who gathered around her.

" Yes grandma"!!!! The children shouted in unsion.

"Now every story has a lesson and today's lesson is no matter how beautiful or handsome you think you are,don't let it fill you with pride because there is a popular saying that PRIDE GOES BEFORE A FALL".
