A Typical day in the Province

So, my day started super early, like 2:30 am, when my mom asked me if my cousin sent me a message about the truck arriving. She was getting coffee and my father ready to head out to the sugarcane field.

No kettle, no problem. The cooking pot will do the boiling.

I grabbed some Milo and bread - finally food for my growling hungry tummy!

After eating, I crashed back to sleep - no point wandering around too early. Next thing I knew, it was 6:47 am. I finally got up and did my usual routine: cooked breakfast, cleaned the house, and took a bath. This is some sort of reverse routine, lol!

After everything was done, I felt bored and this weird negative aura surrounding me. So I decided to do something to distract myself from these uncertainties.

By doing these I felt relieved. This is how I shake off negativity.

I was cleaning the backyard with my little brother. This is a nice way to exercise, no need to waste time walking or jogging somewhere far to get a sweat - this is too natural to ignore! I'm also glad I could teach my younger brother how to clean up and get him into it. Younger generation are pretty different, they need a bit more guidance to lift a hand.

As I gazed upon the lush treasures of our home - the vibrant fruits, fresh vegetables, and hearty root crops. It hit me that province life is truly a blessing in disguise, offering us an abundance of simple yet valuable things that, while may not be the flashy luxuries big cities are known for, are readily available and freely accessible to us here, making it a truly special part of our lifestyle.

Tiny but mighty!

Even though they're still too tiny to harvest in bulk, those little cassava are already looking tasty, and it's making me curious - are you gonna wait till they're bigger or snack on them while they're young and tender? Nah, can't wait for that longer.

If I recall correctly, I've written about planting that cassava before, and look at it now, we're actually able to harvest a few bits already - it's crazy how satisfying it is to see something you planted grow and become something you can actually use and enjoy.

Therefore, I've come to a realization that I'll never exchange the simplicity and tranquility of province life for the hustle and bustle of city life, which is why I think I'll struggle to leave this place, even to look for a job, since it's been my comfort zone since childhood. Realistically speaking, there are things we need that only the city can provide, and that thought alone makes my heart ache a little. Leaving me to hope and pray that the Lord touches the hearts of our leaders (Government officials), inspiring them to help people in the provinces earn a decent living, access basic necessities, and live comfortably without having to leave their homes and families behind in search of greener pastures.
