Choose Your Investments Wisely

On a global scale, things are not looking very good for the average investor. Interest rakes are being hiked all over the World and there simply isn't excess money to continue throwing around on white Elephant or vanity projects. If there is anything this year has taught us, is that consumers when placed under stress tend to make more short term favorable decisions.

The crypto markets have perhaps been the perfect reference this year for investor confidence. As soon as interest rates were raised, the space took a hit and has been in a subdued form for many months. That, and coupled with two major project/platform failures this year has sent many investors scrambling for the exit. So just where are they taking their money to?

Even the real estate sector in most countries have been hit hard. Other investments such as Gold which has been a relatively stable asset has also taken a bit of a tank so far this year. Consumers are pulling out funds to consume and save it fiat, or so it appears. The traditional banking system has always promised stability and that's why consumers tend to go there in a liquidity squeeze.

The thing though is that saving in fiat also poses its own challenges as have been highlighted in countries like Afghanistan, Ukraine, Nigeria, Venezuela and several other nations. Inflation and devaluation are can very quickly erode the value of those fiat assets reducing their worth. In some places (especially conflict ridden areas), fiat can be completely worthless depending on who you ask, and its value most times cannot be transferred across border.

The case for crypto is still very strong, as with its proof of value concept. Global store of value, cross border payments, and integration of web 3 projects and technologies are simply some of the advantages. Crypto is not dying anytime soon, or ever. However it doesn't mean that certain projects aren't bound for failure, which is why the ability or instinct to decipher is very important.

Conclusion

Especially at a time with limited resources. Anyone choosing to invest those resources at this time will be looked at with a lot of skepticism by outsiders. Yet the crypto space still has a lot of solid projects in its arsenal that medium to long term investors would be proud of. DYOR is pretty important, but quitting altogether is not an option.
