Crypto: Hive's Most Influential Habits

Being on the Hive community for a prolonged period of time should cause some visible behavioral changes as anyone who intends to be an active user or investor tends to make commitments towards some certain actions for a sustained period of time. As the timeframe extends, we get so used to some of these actions and behaviors that they extend to influencing other areas of our lives.

Hive being an investment means the changes we adopt are going to be primarily investment focused. Many of us read tons of investment books and the habits to form but Hive is a personified practicalization of those materials. We are each writing our own financial manuals with the actions we take on this project and it quickly begins to spread to other projects and investments.

Crypto as a whole is a do-it-yourself project that involves taking full responsibility for our finances. We become our own banks - responsible for our own security and investment choices. It isn't always a smooth ride and certain habits have been formed by those long term investors in order to survive the sometimes wild swings in prices.

Over time these habits are formed. They may not mean much to the average person but when dealing with crypto and watching your asset value crumble before your very eyes you'd need good reasons not to make a run for it. Hive in particular needs a reason to be consistent at the community level and keep the faith.

Long Term Thinking

The very first crash in the price of Hive (then steem) in 2018 proved to be a shock to many. Some people allegedly quit their jobs to become full time Hivers during that period only to be rudely intercepted by reality when the price came crashing down. During the period extreme bears those who stayed began to adopt a long term approach to Hive and other crypto assets which has paid off over time.

Patience

It is one thing to think long term, but if there is no wherewithal to make it through those down periods, it becomes impracticable. Life is going to test all of us and give us a reason to simply give up. Crypto especially has a way of driving us nuts. Imagine seeing your assets fall from hundreds of thousands to thousands in just a few hours or days. Patience is needed to overcome the financial rollercoaster and stay focused on the goal at hand.

Vision

Before I got into crypto, the concepts of proof of value, stake and work didn't carry as much weight as they do now. I cared less for instance about the value social media or my bank should be providing and was simply a user. Crypto has shown us the light on what these platforms can be, and blockchain technology gives us the ability to imagine a technological revolution powered by individuals rather than institutions.

I spend far less time on other social platforms for instance, and am more bullish about investing in crypto with efforts to increase my investments a little each day. These habits have translated not just within the crypto network but even on traditional investments where my approach is a lot different and I try to focus on getting more for myself.

Seriously, you are right.

We all need to take responsibility for all of our actions in this space. Hive is where we get to practice all of the thing we saw in the financial books and materials we read or studied in the past.

At the same, crypto has a way of making us sit up, and think long term with or without our permission. And when it finally happens to anyone, the rewards in the future are often great. This is seen with the accounts who have been through thick and thin with Hive in the past. And for us who are mostly newly onboarded, we have seen the proof that if we stick it in, we'll come out victorious.

Some big accounts today - @cryptoandcoffee and @Joseddicus were at my level in terms of Hive assets a couple of years ago. Life happened and I wasn't committed to the space while they were putting in the work each and every day. I decided last year I was going to be serious and it's paying off already.

Hive really is a 'can't miss' opportunity

Without patience and dedication, you cannot succeed in this market.

Some people have 'succeeded' and cashed out early, but to win big here I believe patience is very important

I believe that the most important thing you mentioned is the long term thinking. Going into Hive with this mindset can be life changer in a few years for those who stack and build without taking out value (tokens) from the ecosystem at this early stage. Nice post!

When I saw the potential, I repositioned myself last year and have tried to be committed to the platform. Am seeing results already

Most definitely all true as it has to influence your thinking outside of Hive. These habits are all good habits which teach you the real value of what and how to succeed. Patience and consistency are the key factors over along period of time as cashing out early is madness.
