Mismatch Between Expectations and Reality

Very likely that the reason you joined Hive isn't the same reason that has kept you active through the years. Hive (then steem) launched with a lot of promises, and thus expectations were high, almost to the level of absurdity. When reality began to set in however, many left feeling disappointed and betrayed when they should have reduced their expectations in the first place.

There is just something about us humans that is built for perpetual optimism. This heavy load of expectations we also carry into other facets of life. Take for instance when we are starting out a new job. What the expected job role and working environment is almost always differs from what the reality on ground actually is, leading to a lot of people feeling disenchanted.

In the context of investment expectations are a heavy burden to bear, because our assets are at stake and we almost always ignore the tendency for loss to occur. Of course if we only obsessed about the possibility of occurrence of loss then we wouldn't have the courage to invest in the first place, so a balance is somewhat needed.

That isn't to say that some expectations can't be met or even exceeded. Crypto generally has exceeded growth and development expectations in such a short period of time. Hive has exceeded developmental expectations as well as longevity expectations and continues to do so. The same can be said about the leofinance. The biggest consideration it seems when it comes to expectation is time.

I think there are also differences between individual and community expectations as the individual tends to be a lot more demanding. Hive and leofinance have progressed from a community perspective for instance, but they continue to lag in price valuations which is the main focus for many individual expectations. The best way to adjust accordingly from an individual perspective in my view is to take time considerations very seriously.

Reality is often very cold and gives no warning. There is no beating reality when it comes to how things eventually will turn out. Many have invested in crypto and have literally been left traumatized. While it is difficult to predict reality, extending one's expectations to the long-term and not being overly expectant in the first place are the best recommendations.

Oh yeah! You can bet that has been my case. Me, by instance, I expected to find way more people with an excellent and witty sense of humor. Hahahaha

Yup! you can say I've reduced my expectations in that regard... but just a tiny bit! };)

Funny thing is that I still feel our expectations will be met and probably exceeded. We just need to extend the time frame

Yeah! that's how it is. Some say that time relieves and heals everything. Including false expectations, our regular mood and also our peculiar sense of humor.

You can say that again, expectations and reality are parallel but in opposite directions.
I had nothing when I joined hive so I came with a blank mind and didn't actually know what to expect or what could be offered here. Although at this time I find myself what you speak about is happening in my mind but I'm glad to be sailing daily letting my expectations feel relaxed as I understand the play now and better.

I have actually been in hive for a very short time and I feel very good with all of you here and I am sure I will stay here until I am out of breath.
