Naturally Resistant

20210529_08_31_40_534_0.jpg

People don't like being forced to change a situation or scenario that suits them, even when nature begins to make calls for it. It isn't like there is an inability to see the bigger picture, rather it is a willingness to see every other thing fail in order for us to keep getting what we want.

The changes Musk is making on Twitter now are receiving quite a bit of attention, particularly because of the way Musk himself has chosen to handle them. The most reactions come from the decision to make verified Twitter users pay $8 monthly. Surprisingly, it is the people who seemingly can afford this that are making the biggest fuss about it.

A lot of people have threatened to dumpy the bird app for food. However, until an agreed alternative has been decided (heard Jack Dorsey is building one), then it is very unlikely that they do. Musk coming onboard the affairs of Twitter has exposed some of the lapses the company tolerated particularly concerning their integrity and profitability in the coming years.

It therefore seems like the changes are not only logical, but necessary. The question though is that just how much of those changes will naturally resistant people be willing to accommodate. Better still it also asks just how much of a push Musk can make before the backlash becomes too much and he backs off. Such situations make it difficult for too many things to be done at once.

This is why even though we talk about loopholes in traditional finance, most people wouldn't dump the system overnight. It is why Blockchain technology still has to prove itself quite a bit before we it come in and replace anything. Even then, we must still attest to the fact that change is a gradual process and should be regarded as such.

Patience is very important when making changes of financial consequences. Sometimes we can let people see the error in their thinking without pointing it out to them. I for one have changed by opinion on certain issues without needing anyone to convince me, and the same holds true when money is involved.

Conclusion

I think the best time to make changes is during the early stages when people are still getting used to a project. At some point the project might become so big that people have no choice but adapt regardless (just like twitter now), so also focusing on growth and creating a product that is simply too valuable is a great way to ensure we can always let it reflect our vision

I heard Jack is on his way to starting another social media, I think these guys are smart, they pitch something for free in the first place and later monetize it heavily when people have fully built a business or a persona around it.
It's crazy, but seriously, now's the time to make a move and not when it's too late.

I think Elon Musk is trying to restructure the platform, pivoting from the old model and many people won't just have it because they're comfortable with the old model. The paywall model will bring a split in the Twitter user base. How many will stay and how many will leave is yet to be decided. He has an edge over them because most of them are heavily invested in the platform, so they'll just have to stick around, pay that fee and enjoy the 'premium' features.

They can always leave, but the problem is.. Where will they go? Any likely competition will probably be bought by Musk, or he'll have major influence in it. It is interesting to watch anyway

Right. There currently isn't any alternative that can match with Twitter. I think It's an opportunity to build an application for the unhappy-twitter-customer-base.
