So What If We Kept the Status Quo

Crypto is here to disrupt, and change things for the better. A lot of us earnestly believe that and so far we have been encouraged with evidence that point in that direction. While the change we envision may be slower than a lot of us envisage, there is hardly any doubt that it is needed.

Unfortunately some elements do not quite agree with the need for change, and seek a continuation of the status quo. That would mean operating the current monetary system where important financial decisions at every level are left in the hands of a few powerful individuals /institutions.

The problem with this is that there would be no need for change if there wasn't a big problem in the first place. The system doesn't have obvious systems of a collapse right now (or maybe it does), but there is a clear consequence of not allowing evolution to happen in our technological space.

Let's say things continue like this over the next few decades, or the blockchain didn't exist. While it may be an overstretch to predict doom and gloom overnight, there are obvious consequences I can easily imagine to harbouring such a scenario.

To see what the chain has on offer, one must look at where the deficiency lies in how we presently operate. We are forced to contend with restriction of financial liberties and decision making, massive corruption, inequality, and a general disregard for individual rights and freedoms in the old system.

Take for instance the systemic corruption that goes on in governments, especially amongst the poorest of nations. There really wasn't any way currently imaginable to ameliorate those sufferings on a more permanent basis until crypto came along. Blockchain technology has come with the promise of transparency in governance that can make even unwilling participants conformists.

Furthermore, a situation where we have a select few nations/institutions making decisions that affect the rest of the World doesn't sound like a sustainable one over time. Blockchain technology is handing back liberties individuals and by effect governments who seek greater liberties for their people.

Perhaps thinking along this line is one efficient way to imagine why the blockchain must and will succeed. The consequences of remaining as things are might be too grave in the near future. Surely this change is a must, and is only a matter of time.
