A Lost Friend Indeed

There is nothing sweeter than having good and reliable friends around. While growing up, I had the privilege to keep as many as I could. The environment I live then was full of kids of different kinds. Play those days was something we executed like our daily bread.

I used to have this friend by name Amine Donbeti, he is an Adamawa guy. Most kids liked him for two reasons, the first one is his name and the other was his ascent, the way he speaks alone, is enough to make you laugh all day. Above all he is very friendly yet super troublesome, he was the king fighter those days.

I and him became very close because we were taken to the same School and were classmates. The only thing that separates me from that guy most times is sleep. If we are not playing we are watching movies. It was in their house I first watched spy kids and superman I really love those movie then. Every day after school I am always at his place to watch.

His dad was a Mobile police officer and doesn't work within the state, he only comes from times to time. His mom was a petty trader and loves traveling too, so often times, the house is always left without his parents. Being the first born, he is always in charge. For that we his friends have the liberty to come and watch movies for as long as we want, sometimes even pass the night at his place.

The only days I don't visit him, is when the father comes back. I and him were so close that people regard us as brothers, he was the one that taught me how to play sonic game. If you hadn't played that game you've missed a lot.

Amine was a very good friend, the only problem I used to have with him then was, he doesn't like eating outside his house, I mean once the food doesn't come from his house, no matter how hard you pressed on him, he would never eat but he wants you to eat from his house. I learnt a lot through his lifestyle, though troublesome but he is so understanding and compassionate.

The Separation
Well nothing lasts forever as the saying goes. They had to live Akwanga back to Adamawa because his dad was killed in one of the operations they went for. It was really a sad one. According to his mother, that day, the father just came back from special duty, he didn't even have a proper rest when he got a call from his boss to avail himself at the base.

When he got there, they were taken for another operation that claimed the lives of a lot of them. A lot of fathers were lost that day, about five of them in my area. After the incident my friend's family have to move to the village at Adamawa state, Nigeria because they had no relations here, and his mom was not doing any reasonable work down here. Taking care of the kids would be a difficult task for her and the house they were living in here was a rented one.

I heard their father has a house back in their village, probably they moved into the house and started a new life. Well, that was how I and Amine got sperated till date, though we were communicating then but a point reached were everything just stopped and I lost his contact. As it is, I don't know how he is right now.

If I should see him right again, I would definitely be so excited but I am not sure we would be able to get along very well like we used to be because a lot has changed about us. I know I have evolved and I am sure he has too. Well, destiny has a way of doing its own things, what is meant to be would always be.

Times changes and people change. Treasure the memories and move on.

Of course if you get a chance to visit again, take it! The person you still knew is under there somewhere and it is always fun to reminisce.

You are very right, nothing is really permanent under heavens.. even memories fade🤣

I am really trusting God for an opportunity to visit him but for now, there is really no hope at all.

Thank you so much for reading
