Bribery and Corruption, the Cancer eating Nigeria.

Good day Friends and family of Hive Learner's community and welcome to my entry for week 9 episode 3, which happens to be my first post in this community.

Below is the task given

There is no country in the world that does not suffer from this menace of bribery and corruption. So, tell us about how bad it has affected your country and what you think can be done to reduce it to the barest minimum.

Over the years Corruption and Bribery has been a very serious threat to Nigeria as a nation, just like cancer this menance continue to grow to it's worse as time goes by and Nigeria kept breaking down gradually until it has now become as popular as the nation's flag, seen all over the nation, in almost 90% of every every organization in the nation. Those who have no money or upper hands are disregarded while the rich and those with upper hand called connection are regarded. Those who refused to be part of the game are denied their rights and privileges. Visite most offices today for any assignments and see wonders for yourself if you are a no body, and have no connection (someone who is influencial and has power) forget it, you will barely carry out your task free and without stress except if God favours you that day., You will be shocked to hearing them demanding for money over things that are supposed to be done free and the painful part of it is, if you do not pay forget it you will never be attended to.
Not just in offices our roads today, the nation did it's best to reduce the issues of insecurities ranging from armed robbery and kidnapping by providing security systems on the road but reverse is the case this security men are now the fear of most travelers and drivers instead of ensuring security they go about exploiting money from this poor people who are out there in search of food for their families, if you do not pay, your car might be seized or your journey would be delayed.. what do we call this??
Like I said earlier on, this cancer has now become as great and popular as the nation's flag itself seen almost everywhere, in politics where most citizens place their hope for a better world and better future, this threat like an airborne disease has spread and entered into it's very heart, you will be shocked to know that the masses who undergo a serious risk, you know how stressful and frustrating the ballot voting system is, to vote for their choice and the candidates they feel is right but their expectations at the end will be would be turned down through election rigging, many lost their lives during election yet at the end those with influence will turn this to their favour and not to the good of the nation and masses, parties are considered more than the interest on the people, politics has now become a game of selfish interest other than a system of protecting the interest of the people.
What of our educational system? Has this disease reached there too? Well yes, go to many universities, colleges, polytechnics, secondary schools, primary schools owned by the government and you would see comedy, Examination malpractice is now a legal act sponsored by the heads of some of these schools in the name of defending the name of the school, with this act students get results they do not worth, and those who genuinely and sincerely work with their hearts are those scoring less .what should we say? When people are caught in mal practice act instead of expulsion from school or a query the lecturers or teachers or head now ask what is your religion? And check if they are related if any is in place, he over looks the offense but others whom he has no relationship with are thrown out if they dare commit similar offences. Head of school bribe supervisors to give them good recommendation and remarks during supervision but those who refused to bribe are penalized most times without any tangible reason just because they didn't give them what they want.. how do we have a better world then? These are only but few instances of corruption and Bribery in my nation can u now see that it is a disease? How can the world grow to be a better place with this malady? No one want to do the right thing anymore, everyone wants to take the easy route, when we pay we will have what we want so why the stress? they say. most people would not vote anymore because they know they will only go and waste their precious time and energy and at the end they will be denied their rights. Our children are born into this mess, if you don't have kids now sooner or later you will have one ore two, ha!ha!ha. What can we do to say them from contacting this disease?
Well honestly Bribery and corruption is not something that can be eradicated over night, like I said it is a disease, and disease don't just get cured or healed in one day, it takes a gradual process. But here are few ways I think can reduce this acts

1. Religious bodies should emphasize on teaching morality and doing the right thing, through this most persons, with bad mentality would have a sense of being good and know that what they are doing is wrong. So they will start looking towards doing what is right and pleasing to God, for no religion encourages evil.
2. There should be anti corruption and Bribery agency, and this body should undego a serious disciplinary training and must be patriotic citizens who would love to see the growth of their nation. Anyone who is caught in the act of bribery or corruption should be properly dealt with so it will serve as an example to others, infact i would suggest either suspension from work, demotion, dismissal etc depending on the kind of offence committed
3. The masses also have a part to play by always doing the right thing and refusing to be part of it. When you're asked to pay a fine you know you shouldn't pay, please don't pay. And if it happens that you must pay but then please do not make it be your lifestyle.
4. Our teachers in school can do us well in imputing morality into the younger generation so that they will grow with the fear of God and with a sense of what is right and a mindset of building a better world for the next generation, etc.
