Is It Safe To Trust Instincts Alone?

The human mind is one of the most mysterious things I have ever known. I feel, somehow, our minds and bodies are designed to pick up signals of things that have already occurred or are yet to happen, as though there was a link between us and the supernatural.

Many times, we experience situations where we had little to no idea about something, but our minds kept directing us on a path we can not explain about that very thing, and surprisingly, it will end the way we thought.

It has been occurring so much that people commonly say “follow your heart” when one is about to make a crucial decision in their life, but they are confused about what to do.

Sometimes we follow our heart, and it plays out well; other times it goes south. I can not tell why people are this confident about their instincts, but I know that nothing is 100% safe or accurate in life.

If things go as we perceive, fine, we might be right, or we might be lucky. And if they don't, we might be wrong or there is something we are yet to discover.

Whatever the case may be, I don't agree with totally depending on instincts alone to make major decisions in life.

Instincts can be merely feelings or minor clues from past experiences, without sure and proven data; sometimes, it is dangerous to proceed.

I don't trust my instincts 100% . It has failed me many times before. There were times I tried using my instincts in the crypto market, and I watched my assets turn into dust simply because my instincts told me to hold, and similarly, there were times my instincts said “sell,” and because I trusted it, I sold, and guess what? From the moment I sold, the price began going higher.

Instincts are good, but they can be misleading, too. Your instinct can tell you someone is evil simply because you don't feel comfortable around them, only for you to dislike them and later discover they are good people.

But don't get me wrong, as I said earlier, our bodies and minds are designed to pick up signals beyond even the physical realm. It is possible for us to perceive danger, and our instincts would immediately alert us.

Yet we should also try to balance instincts with other data before taking action in order to avoid making critical mistakes, especially when dealing with people.

There are times I am compelled to use my instincts to address issues, especially when I am clueless about something, and there is obviously no means of getting reliable information. I have no option but to follow my heart, yet I don't carelessly immediately.

Sometimes, I hold and take it slow, watching the outcomes, and if I notice that the path I am on is likely not the right one, I don't hesitate to stop just where I am and look for another alternative before things completely go out of hand.

Instincts can be either right or wrong; one just has to be careful when making decisions. I know that life can be funny; sometimes you can make the most accurate decisions, yet they will fail, but it's better to fail right than to fail or win wrongly.

I’d like to believe that our instincts may not always be right but believe me, most of the time it is.

Well said bro. Instincts can be dangerous to trust, especially when it's a critical matter. But we can't know it all, so sometimes we do with our instincts. We just have to be careful.
