A thought of it, made the memory brand new. those were days when a word from my dad means the world to me, even up till this moment. my dad and I always had this connection, he just seems to understand my struggles without me saying a word. you know how that feels, when you know that there is someone who won't ask you why you did somethings, he/she just understands. my dad was that kind of person to me, though we had our issues especially during Academic related issues.

But despite how many times we cross paths, he always has this high hope for his children, me and my brother included. whenever we achieved something spectacular or less significant he has his way of making it memorable for us.

Especially those days when I was still working at Lagos traffic radio, as a broadcast student it was a dream come true for me and for my dad he was really proud of me, Every now and then he would tune to Lagos traffic radio just to listen to news stories written by me. it is a culture in the broadcast industry to name the editor of a story during broadcast. though the privilege is not available for everyone in the news room. my name was being mentioned after I became the sub editor in the news room.

On this day, I was at work doing my regular shift. we had this family gathering at my grandfather's place and right from time I was never the reunion type. especially if it is going to be crowded, I love the company of myself so much despite being an extrovert.

So my dad knew I wasn't going to come if I wasn't monitored, so on this day he drove to pick me up at my work place after my shift for the first time, though he claimed he was passing by but I could see through him. after my shift we drove out in his car, some of his friends was he the car. before leaving I had already prepared the bulletin to broadcasted by 12 pm, so I left the news room hurriedly in order not to keep my dad waiting.

We drove out and on our way to "OWORO" where my grandfather reside. on getting to ojota we were stuck in traffic, I never really noticed that he had tuned to Lagos traffic radio, so while the news bulletin for 12pm was being disseminated, I had my headphones on but I could hear some wordings of the news and I noticed that it was the news I wrote but I just acted normal since that wasn't my first time writing a news story.

But something happened that brought smile to my face up to this moment, while my dad and his friends were talking and they were listening to the news. immediately the news ended and editor's name was mentioned, I just heard him say " that is my son". is friends were amazed and they all laughed but at that moment I was trying to catch my breath. that is not the first time my dad will call me his son obviously but hearing him brag and boast of being my father was something I will be witnessing for the first time. I felt so amazed by the thought that I made my dad proud. it was not a regular compliment but its worth was more than anything for me.

Ever since then, more than ever, every time I did something worth appraisal. I will quickly run to my dad to inform him because I never wanted him to run out of things that he could brag of with๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿคญ. I guess in one way or the other, every son wishes to be acknowledged by his father and I wasn't any different.
