My journey to financial independence || passive income

Every human aims at achieving financial stability in order to minimise their labour and secure their means of survival. this quest is a life long worth of hustle, in a country such as mine, nothing is secured, either jobs or governmental benefit.

For individuals such as me with less inheritance, we tend to work harder in order to maintain a source of income, one of the most interesting thing about the family I'm from is the way we were raised and brought up, I consider myself lucky despite not growing up with a silver spoon. My family believes that hardwork pays, so we were raised with that mentality along with my siblings.

We all have this personal interest in farming, so my dad made available plot of lands in order for us to utilise our strength each person in the family ventured into their area of interest, apart from the general planting and harvesting that we do that involves cassava, cocoa yam and Plantain plantation, we harvest it all round the year. some of the earlier post I made such as

from the farm, the plantation plays a significant role in the survival of my family though we harvest for consumption only, my family has no interest in commercialising on plant farm, we treat it like some kind of hobby. My family enjoy the raring of livestock such as chicken, goat, rabbit and catfish

MY RABBIT FARM

we consume some for food, especially during the holiday period and we commercialise on the rest, the livestock we have In my family is a collective effort of every member of the family but it is owned by a specific member of the family. for instance, livestock such as chicken and goat is owned by my dad and elder brother. the catfish is owned by my mom, while the rabbit farm is owned by me.

I used my rabbit farm to generate income for me and my family just like everyone one else in the family, last year Christmas period was good time for my rabbit farm I made a lot of sales and earned significant profit, due to my passion for livestock farming with the support of my family I have been able to grow my rabbit farm to a significant height. though I earn a significant income from my rabbit farm but i never tried to depend on it profit for survival because it will affect the growth of the rabbit farm, so I decided to source for other source of income in order to earn more profit.

while in school especially during my process of acquiring my higher national diploma from moshood abiola Polytechnic, I got involved in a lot of mini business to assist my self in School, which reduced the rate at which depended on my livestock farm for survival because my livestock farm is more like a continuous journey I'm embarking on even after I'm done with school, so for now the earnings are mainly for future purpose. not that My dad doesn't support my educational career but after my national diploma I kind of wanted to start financing my life myself, taking responsibility of my day to day affairs. Though he continued to support me in every way he can but I never asked, I have always been keen on achieving financial independence right from childhood.

I joined hive about two and half years ago, I was introduced by a colleague from school. during that time I was undergoing my IT, so I never really took my hive blog seriously, never did I consider it as a source of income, last year I started making a significant progress in my hive blog, by engaging and making quality post more often than usual, with the help of #hive learners community I was able to make a significant progress in my hive blog over a short period of time which I later came across #dreamport through a post I read, which also created a significant visibility for the content I post on my blog.

Do I consider hive to be a potential source of passive income?

After the effort I made on my blog, I realise I could also depend on it as a source of income but the thing about hive blog is, based on my experience so far, no one dictates to you how to make use of your hive earnings but it is advisable to use your earnings to power up as much as you can because it determines and increase your ability to perform more activities on the hive blockchain. it grants larger voting power and increased curation rewards which I consider to be an incentive.

Other added benefit such as savings that allows you to get up to 20% APR on your HIVE and HBD tokens. Apart from all these you delegate HP to communities or hive users such as ecency and earn a percentage of curation rewards based on the amount delegated. yeah it does sound like a great source of passive income, though right now all I'm focused on is using my hive earnings to increase my HP on hive, as tempting as it is to use it as a means of generating passive income right now, I'm holding unto the earnings for future use.

Apart from My livestock farm, my hive blog and other sources of income. as a poet, I have written about 186 poems, I posted some of them on my hive blog, I pilled it up in a book, in the future I am planning on publishing if I have the opportunity to do so. I do have a long way to go to fully achieve the financial independence and stability I crave but I believe with hard-work and consistency it is achievable.
