The HAMMER AND THE NAIL

source

As it is known there is symbiotic relationship between the Harmer and the nail, both need each other in order to get a job done. in the sense, the nail symbolises as talent, while the Hammer stands for hard work.

The concept of talent is the skills an individual as acquired or learnt and the ability of such individual to apply the skill, though in some cases some individuals are considered to be born with some talents, such as vocals and musical skill. in such cases, such individual has the choice to either develop it or let it rot.

Hard work on the other hand is a level of applied effort on a particular job but both concept overlap in the sense that for an individual to make the best out of a particular talent, he/she needs to put in hard work in order to succeed.

In the state where I come from, the concept of talent is under estimated. in the present society where I grow up in, a lot of individuals roam around with raw talent but are not appreciated or recognised for such talents because talents in most cases blossom when an avenue is created to exhibit such talents. but in a society were by little attention is placed on talent show casing, eventually it is left to the individual to make effort in order to be recognised for such talent.

It takes a level a level of determination and consistency for an individual with talents to achieve a level of success with the talent. this where hard work comes in, is there such thing as talent without the application of hard work?

My perspective of talent and hard work
in my experience on a job and in the field, I realise talent alone is not enough to attain success. correlating this to the field experience have had.

MY JOB EXPERIENCES
AS A RISK MANAGEMENT OFFICER
As a risk management officer at Duncan maritime limited, my job was to analyse potential risks and offer solutions to issues before it escalate. though the job seems pretty good, all I have to do is trust instinct. I did my best at the job not because I had any specific talent that related to the job, the only supportive factor I had was my paranoid state of mind, I doubted every single thing around which makes one step ahead of any situation.

I excel in the job because I put in a lot hard work, I studied a lot about what my job is all about. if I am to pin point what worked from during the process of the job it will be hard work because talent is something that doesn't show case it self without hard work.

AS AN EDITOR
That is Lagos traffic radio, I was recruited as an editor in thee news room. this job was a lot different from the risk management gig. it demanded skills in the profession. though I had a thing for editing news story but was that enough to get the job done? I had to put in a lot work till I got promoted to sub editor in the news room, I wouldn't say talent got me there, though I had the talent for editing but talent was not the only thing the job required.

So if I am to say specifically, both talent and hardwork is required on the field or job because hard work has always worked for me best. since talent can be learnt as long as a person is willing, at the long run it will fall back to hard work to show case the talent.

Broooooo bravo my man, this is indeed a very detailed points you listed out here, I will be very frank with you bro, right from your first illustration of nail and Harmer being useless without each other has made me love your write up, this what we call catchy intro bro...

It is indeed a fact that talent without hardwork is dead, for talent to make you successful, there have hard work in the long run, just as hard work helped you as a risk management officer even when you don't have the talent of the work, you read more and equiped yourself with knowledge and they said knowledge is power and that is where your hardwork paid even without you having the talent...

Hard work will take man everywhere just as how talent plus hardwork will take man everywhere but the moment you have a talent and don't work hard, it becomes dormant which will later die...

Talent is also related to an avenue, some have the talent AND are working hard but still they are not being noticed, I guess hard work should be the focus in such case and to those that are privileged they shouldn't mess it up because that opportunity is golden.... thanks for this beautiful points...

In the end talent and hardwork are to be paired together at all times...

Thanks for the beautiful and impeccable write up bro....
