The Way Forward || Necessary improvement for weekly featured Contest & general activities in hive learners community.

Growing up, I have learnt numerous lessons about the need for constant maintenance in order to ensure development in any sector in the society. throughout my days in boarding school there was one living proof of how long a good thing could last and stay afloat if only we humans can discipline ourselves to do the needful. Just a couple of blocks away from my hostel there was this vegetable garden owned by my hostel master. if you don't take a closer look you will think they are just flowers to show how majestic they look. Every morning after our morning devotion in the hostel you would see our hostel master going through his garden to take out the weed, no matter how small it might seem. During those days I consider his attitude towards his garden to be very obsessive.

A lot of teachers and non teaching staffs always admire this vegetable garden, they all want a piece of it but he never allowed it, you can't go into the garden without seeking the permission of my hostel master. whatever you need in the garden, you must go to him and he will go into the garden to give you whatever you ask for. There was a particular day some of the SS3 student in the hostel felt like they have grown enough wings to barge into the garden and get somethings. Well you would wonder what exactly is in the garden that students will want to risk getting caught for. it is a pawpaw tree that is less than 6 Feet long but has a lot of pawpaw fruit on it. the fruit are so long and huge that sometimes I feel the tree might collapse.

Unfortunately the student got caught and the punishment given to them seems too extreme. I guessed our hostel master noticed the overall attitude of the student towards him because he happens to be the kind of hostel master we loved but what he said afterwards stuck with me to this moment. He said, When he became the hostel master and moved to the staff quarters, the garden we all see and admire today was just a dumping site, everyone passes by the dumping site with no reasonable intention about it but he realised that the dumping site soil was rich, so he cleared it up and turned it into a garden. he said, Everyone wants a piece of something that is good but the only way it can remain good is through constant maintenance, improvement and order.

I have been participating in different activities on hive learners community for over a year now, truthfully it has been an amazing experience so far. I have grown my hive account significantly and learn a lot of skill through their initiatives and outstanding post written by the members of the community. there are a lot of potentials and opportunity in hive learners community which I have been privileged to enjoy. I was only privileged to enjoy this benefits and support from hive learners community because certain individuals have dedicated their time to endure things go in order in the community.

Through constant maintenance and setting guidelines/rules for the members of the community to adhere to, just like the situation of the garden owned by my hostel master. it is no doudt that the moderators of the community has done an amazing job so far but moving forward to hit another milestone of 200 weeks of weekly featured Contest from the 100th week we are currently celebrating I believe there is room for improvement. There are few helpful tips I can think of that could better improve the weekly featured content and hive learners general activities to foster a progressive growth.

• 1) Promoting the significance of quality engagement: During those days when I first joined hive learners community and started Participating in the weekly featured content there was a particular initiative in place that encouraged members to partake in writing quality comments on each others post. I'm not quite sure if the initiative is still ongoing. it is quite obvious that hive learners community cherish members engaging with others post In the community but I believe when that initiative was very much active the rate of quality engagement was rampant compared to now.

• 2) Ensuring members participation in discord activities: There is more to hive learners community than what goes on in the blog page. my favourite aspect of hive learners has always been the discord activities which varies from, the weekly hangout that take place on Saturday by 4pm and Monday heart to heart session by 5pm. these discord activities tends to promote unionism among members of the community. By partaking in this activities I met a lot of people and learnt from what others shared during the sessions. I believe encouraging participation in those activities is vital to hive learners community growth.

• 3) Creating more awareness for hive learners on Web2 platforms: There are different initiatives that involves the promotion of hive learners community on Web2 which involves the X(twitter) campaign and Wednesday X podcast initiative. I believe members participation in this initiatives most especially the podcast is not that encouraging. to an extent, I believe creating awareness for hive learners community on web2 platforms by participating in these initiatives is our way of giving back to the community based on the kind of support they give the members. probably there is something the moderators can come up with to increase the level of participation.

• 4) Having multiple games for weekly hangout: I'm sure shawnNFT will be jubilating if he sees this😂, he has been advocating for this for awhile now. The most popular game in the weekly hangout is the roll dice which I have come to love but I feel it doesn't have to be the only one. creating another fun activities for the weekly hangout can increase the level of participation of members in this event.

Concerning the topics of the weekly featured edition contest, I don't know about others but based on my own perspective I believe it is perfect the way it is. the most interesting fact about the topics of the weekly featured Contest in hive learners community is how random it is. it gives members the privilege of having to write on varieties of topics they never knew they were capable of writing anything about. over the years I have written on topics I didn't like at all but at the end it came out beautifully. I believe this is the beauty of participating in the hive learners weekly featured Contest.
