The Globe: DIY Earth CONTEST

(Edited)

Hello esteemed members of diyhub community, am glad to finally share my own entry for the DIY earthcontest.

So guys it actually took me lots of time to finally come up with a particular concept for the earthcontest and at some point I almost gave up but then I was still determined to participate so I think my determination brought me this far.

Generally the month of April and April 22 holds a special place in my heart because aside the earth day celebration which was the major highlight of the month, 22 happens to be my immediate younger brothers birthday while 23 was my own birthday and 28 the second to the last baby of the house birthday. So April means alot to me and my family.

Now back to the earth contest, the whole process was not so easy for me, I bought three balloons and two popped after I started with the process which made me start all over again. I even doubted I could make it before the deadline as I started today itself but am glad it was successful at the end.

To begin with the process, these were the materials I used:

*white cardboard *scissor
*cartoon *rule
*poster color
*starch
*balloon
*pen
*ink
*bowl and water
*top bond (glue)
*paper

                        **PROCEDURES**

First in a bowl, I put a little water inside and added starch and top bond glue into the water Which after I soaked the paper in the water. The purpose for the glue and the starch is to ensure it stick to the balloon and dry fast.

Secondly, I pumped air inside the balloon and started placing the wet paper on it till I covered the whole balloon with the paper. I later transferred the big ball inside the cartoon to allow it dry we'll under the sun. But unfortunately it wasn't sunny outside caused it seemd like it wanted to rain so I brought it in to avoid stories that touches the heart.

Thirdly, when it was dried, I took a needle and pierced it inside the ball to remove air from the balloon. Next thing I did was to use my ink and pen to draw the design of different maps and start the coloring using my poster color. I started with the color blue which represent color of the sky, water and went in with other colors like green representing vegetation to get the final look.

I was through colouring at this point, so I did the base. I cut the cartoon into a square shape and covered it with a cardboard paper and wrote GLOBE on it.

To beautify my earth, I did a little hexagonal shape design using the white cardboard paper. I cut a circle using a scissor.

Next I used my rule and pencil to draw a triangle on the cut out circle and stater folding it following the triangular shape I drew binding it with glue.

When I was through, I colored it using the poster color and placed it close to the globe.

Different view of the glob

Thank you for your time, peace 🕊️
